    Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Coordinator Medford Office Worksite Location: 140 S Holly Street, Medford, OR 97501 SALARY AND BENEFITS * Current FTE: 1.0 FTE or 40 hours/week * Wage: $16.50/hour to start * Health insurance (medical, dental, vision) offered at 0.75 FTE or greater * Paid holidays, vacation time, and sick time prorated to FTE * 403 (b) retirement benefits * This position is hourly and non-exempt, i.e. subject to state and federal wage and overtime requirements THE POSITION The Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)Coordinator works directly with populations that are at high-risk for acquiring HIV, to assist them in accessing Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP. The PrEP Coordinator works closely with HIV Alliances STI testing clinic, the Testing Coordinator and Early Intervention Specialist to identify and reach out to high risk individuals. The PrEP Coordinator provides education and information to individuals interested in accessing PrEP, provides referrals to prescribing physicians, and works with the individual to identify and overcome barriers to accessing PrEP. The PrEP Coordinator assists clients in accessing and enrolling in insurance programs, including but not limited to Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid), Medicare, and private insurance plans. This position provides HIV testing services, community education and conducts outreach to high risk populations. RESPONSIBILITIES * Client identification, outreach and engagement (no more than 25% of FTE) * Conduct a one-on-one readiness assessment with potential clients to determine their motivations for taking PrEP, their readiness to take PrEP and adhere to it, their current access to health insurance and medical care, and their supports and barriers to taking PrEP * Provide education and information related to options for health insurance, PrEP patient assistance programs, and local medical providers who can prescribe PrEP, * Assist clients in developing a PrEP Access Plan for obtaining a prescription and necessary labs. * Follow-up with individuals with PrEP Access Plans to ensure they do not lose access to PrEP due to changes in circumstances, such as loss of health insurance or change in income, side effects, misperceptions of risk, or other individual or systemic barriers to taking PrEP. * Conduct assessments with individuals to determine whether they filled prescriptions, encountered any barriers to adherence or other challenges in taking PrEP, and whether they are still taking PrEP. * Encourage follow-up with providers if individuals choose to discontinue PrEP. * Provide direct one-on-one and phone PrEP coordination services * Visit accompaniment services * Provide appropriate referrals, including follow up and documentation * Advocate with medical providers as needed on behalf of our clients * Provide HIV testing * Maintain up-to-date HIV and PrEP knowledge and provide HIV and PrEP education to high-risk populations, professionals and community members, in a variety of settings * Maintain up to date pool of referrals for clients in our service area * Develop and strengthen relationships with service providers in our service areas * Maintain up to date information regarding prescription assistance programs * Participate in necessary meetings * Assist Director with all necessary reports * Other duties as defined by Director and program standards * Conduct outreach online, in community sex environments, and at LGBT-related events to gay and bisexual men, offering safer sex supplies and making referrals to our services * Assist Prevention Manager in planning community events * Acts as liaison and HIV prevention advocate to community groups and coalitions QUALIFICATIONS * Self-manager/self-motivated * Ability to work with diverse populations * Knowledge of local and statewide social service providers * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Record-keeping & organizational skills * Flexible hours required, some evenings and weekends * Comfortable discussing sex, drug use, and HIV/AIDS. * Knowledge of the unique issues affecting high-risk communities and willingness to learn about culturally relevant interventions for gay and bisexual men and people living with HIV/AIDS. * Attention to detail * Passion for working with: Marginalized, under-served populations. People who inject drugs. Sex workers. Gay/bisexual men and other men who have sex with men. Individuals engaging in behavior considered to be high-risk for HIV Gay/bisexual young men and young people who inject drugs * Support of harm reduction philosophy and client-centered approach in prevention. * Comfortable handling safer injection and safer sex supplies. * Familiarity using Word, Excel, Microsoft Access, and Power Point. * Ability to work on a team successfully and effectively. * Effective spokesperson and advocate ability to negotiate and represent agency and importance of HIV/AIDS issues. * Ability to build and maintain bridges between HIV Alliance and its clients, other non-profit agencies, governmental entities, key community stakeholders. * Valid Oregon drivers license, driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto insurance policy, ability to transport self to job related events. * TB test (provided at agency). * Ability to pass agency criminal background check. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * One year experience working with marginalized, under-served populations * Bachelors Degree in Social Work/Human Service or other related field or 2 years experience in social services. * Client-centered service experience * Experience working with clients who have substance abuse and/or mental health issues * Professional experience with or education on PrEP * Experience working in HIV Prevention or Care PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Repetitive use of hands such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity necessary to perform various clerical duties such as typing, writing and maintaining files. * Frequent use of arms such as pushing/pulling to open and close drawers and cabinets. * Ability to sit for extended periods of time at assigned station. * Ability to bend and/or reach, and to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 50 pounds(boxes of copy paper and/or files for storage). * Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal processing of work TO APPLY: Please download employment application.
