Treatment Specialist I - Holy Cross Services -Holy Cross Services is one
of the largest private, not-for-profit providers of childrens,
behavioral health and substance abuse services in Michigan. The service
portfolio includes foster care homes, independent living, residential
programs, charter schools, along with inpatient and outpatient
behavioral health and substance abuse services. Holy Cross Services has
offices and service sites in Clinton, Detroit, Clinton Township,
Redford, Pontiac, Flint, Saginaw, Traverse City, Alpena, Kalamazoo and
Grand Rapids. TREATMENT SPECIALIST I:Supervises group of clients in
daily activities using Agency's Group Treatment Model as a basis for
change. Will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team in
treatment planning, exchanging information, and planning and initiating
treatment goals and plans. REQUIREMENTS: * Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree and 1 year of directly related experience; OR 90 hours
toward degree and 2 years of directly related experience; OR 60 hours
toward degree and 3 years of directly related experience. *
Certification: Must be able to pass written and physical portions of TCI
certification training through HCS. MCBAP certification (site specific).
- Licenses Needed: Valid and Current Drivers License. Meet State Good
Moral Character guidelines. * Special Skills: Driving. Physical mobility
and capacity to manage a violent and/or self-abusive clients utilizing
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques to assure the safety of the
clients, co-workers, families and/or others. Physical ability to stand
and/or walk during scheduled shifts; to frequently lift, carry and/or
push 25 pounds; to occasionally lift, carry and/or push up to 100
pounds; and to bend, reach, stretch, twist, turn, climb, kneel, crouch,
grasp, and crawl. * Equipment Used: Automobile, Communication Devices,

received from HCS in strict confidence and shall exercise a reasonable
degree of care to prevent disclosure to others. The co-workers will not
reproduce or share in any way co-worker confidential information nor use
this information for any purpose other than the performance of his/her
duties for HCS. The co-worker understands that HCS reserves the right to
take disciplinary action, up to and including termination for violations
of this agreement. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Functions as a member of a
multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated treatment approach. Provides
input and direction for treatment planning. Exchanges information
concerning family and group issues. Supports, guides and evaluates team
members to ensure integrated treatment approach. *Facilitates group
activities and development. Facilitates group discussions utilizing
daily treatment plans and client goals. Plans and schedules activities
appropriate for groups level of functioning. Encourages development of
positive attitudes, self-image and social skills by providing a positive
role model. Neutralizes negative and dangerous situation. * Teaches and
supervises group in daily living activities, chores and
responsibilities. Informs of and enforces expectations, standards and
procedures. Monitors members personal hygiene, work activity and results
to train in better life skills. Assures maintenance of appropriate group
behavior. Provides clean living and working environment. Improves groups
quality of life and self-image. * Oversees dress habits and clothing
inventory for members (site specific). Ensures each client is properly
and adequately attired. Completes clothing inventory and assesses
related needs. Arranges for purchase of additional clothing. Determines
client responsible for abuse, neglect, misuse of clothing (site
specific). * Monitors functioning of group through direct observation,
individual and group discussion, reading of treatment team logging and
discussion with other treatment team members. * Advocates and assists
assigned clients with special needs. Assists clients in development and
implementation of treatment goals. Attends court hearings with assigned
youth. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with
outside agencies and students significant others. Assists with clients
medical and hygiene needs. * Plans, coordinates, supervises and
evaluates outcome of group and liturgical programs and activities in
accordance with treatment goals and other activities or requests made by
other groups or outside agencies. * Submits necessary documentation as
required by location to inform treatment team members of group
issues/problems, facilitate treatment, provide information for the
Program Evaluation Department, and maintain licensure and contractual
obligations. *Oversees general condition of grounds, buildings,
facilities, equipment, and vehicles. Conducts on-site observations.
Requests necessary repairs or replacement of defective items. * Assists
in scheduling and training Treatment Specialist IIs, IIIs and IVs. *
Continues professional development through professional literature and
participation in various conferences, seminars and professional
organizations. * Responsible for de-escalating angry youth and
physically guiding youth needing assistance who may be aggressive
towards themselves or others utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
strategies (TCI). * Responsible for the assisting/monitoring medications
as prescribed by medical professionals. * Responsible for teaching,
modeling, practicing, supporting and articulating the Agencys treatment
philosophy and/or others that may be required contractually. * Responds
in a relevant physical manner to an explosive incident in a group
situation which may include the use of physical intervention (site
specific). This may require: twisting, kneeling, bending, crouching,
grabbing, holding, reaching, stretching, climbing, turning, crawling,
and quick movement. * Transports clients to and from appointments and
court hearings. * May perform or supervise the execution of other tasks
such as laundry, kitchen responsibilities, fire and natural disaster
drills, minor repair of equipment or buildings. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
(NON-ESSENTIAL): * Performs other duties related to the essential duties
of the position and within the individuals capabilities as assigned by
ones supervisor.
