    The HOME HEALTH RE-AUTHORIZATION SPECIALIST is primarily responsible for requesting authorizations from insurance companies on continuation of services, as well as doing follow-up on the requests.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Complete re-authorization requests
    • Performs follow up on pending requests
    • Communicates with the billing team to advise of possible denials due to retro effective of insurance changes
    • Re-verifies eligibility each time prior to submitting new authorization request
    • Informs nursing staff of insurance changes and makes changes to reflect on active accounts
    • Utilizes resources to assure that patients have not switched from managed care plans back to Medicare plans while they are actively being seen
    • Prepares, mails and tracks Medicare/Medicaid crossover claims
