    Pharmacy Intern PRN (First Semester) **Wesley Medical Center's Pharmacy Department is a forward looking department with some of the most advanced automation technology in the country! If you are in your 1st year of Pharmacy School and hold an Intern License from the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy then this position is for you! Wesley Medical Center is looking for a motivated and ambitious Pharmacy Intern to join our team. Wesley is an acute care teaching facility licensed for 760 beds and 102 bassinets. ** ** ** ** **To Learn about the Culture at Wesley, click HERE! **** Position Summary: The Pharmacy Intern, under the supervision of a Pharmacist, prepares unit dose medications, IV admixtures and chemotherapy. The Intern also delivers medications, processes patient billing and maintains pertinent records. the Intern, under the direction of a licensed Preceptor, must complete all activities as required by Wesley Medical Center Pharmacy Intern program and the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy. * Responds to the needs of customers per department expectations (answers telephone within 3 rings, promptly responds to front window, meet needs of customer, professional, courteous) * Fills patient medication cassettes, first fill medication orders and floorstock requests in an accurate and timely manner per department expectations. * Prepares IV admixtures and chemotherapy solutions in an accurate and timely manner per department expectations * Distributes medication patient cassettes and IV admixture solutions according to department procedures * Processes outpatient prescriptions to meet the needs of the customer and in accordance with department policy and state and federal regulatory requirements * Restocks all work areas (picking station, floor stock area, IV room) to ensure adequate medications and supplies are available for subsequent shifts * Compounds and prepackage medications accurately and in accordance with department policy and regulatory requirements. * Performs clerical functions (billing, crediting, generating reports, processing cash register transactions, filling etc.) according to department expectations * Conducts nursing unit inspections accurately and on schedule * Follows established guidelines for occurrence reporting, reporting medical error or unanticipated outcomes in the patient's care * Attends inservice presentations and completes mandatory education, including but not limited to infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS and OSHA standards * Achieves monthly goals established by preceptor and satisfactorily progresses through the Wesley Medical Center Intern program * Participates on an assigned Pharmacy Team and successfully meets team objectives * Performs other duties as assigned. Required Registration, Licensure or Certification * Intern License through the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy Required Education or Experience * Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate from, an accredited School of Pharmacy Required Knowledge and Skills * Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail. Able to develop skill in drug compounding, preparing IV admixtures and chemotherapy, and general dispensing functions. Possess communication, teamwork, customer service, computer, problem-solving, and organizations skills.
