helps Human Resources Administration (HRA) clients with health and/or
mental health conditions reach their highest attainable level of
functioning and self-sufficiency by providing comprehensive, integrated,
individualized clinical and support services.The Disability Services
Program assists clients in obtaining disability benefits through
Medicaid Under Aid to the Disabled (MA-AD) program, or the Social
Security Federal Disability program (SSI/SSDI). (The Authorized
Representative is also responsible for attending SSI Administrative Law
Judge Hearings as the Authorized Representative for public assistance
clients who claim disabilities.)Customized Assistance Services (CAS) is
recruiting for two (2) Supervisors I (SW) to function as Disability
Service Representatives for the Disability Services Program. The
Disability Services Representatives will: ? Attend Administrative Law
Judge hearings as the Disability Services Representative to assist
clients with appeals of denials of federal disability benefits. Develop
evidence packets with clinically relevant and current medical, mental
health, functional capacity, social information and employment history
in support of disability claims. ? Interview clients and utilize SSA
clinical criteria to evaluate medical, psychiatric, functional capacity
and work history documentation, in consultation with medical,
psychiatric and other professional staff, to assess clients' level of
disability and potential eligibility for federal disability and MA-AD
benefits. Develop a comprehensive clinical case for applicants and
appellants of SSA benefits. ? Conduct conferences with relevant family
members to include parents/legal guardians, medical, psychiatric and
other professional staff to determine level of disability and potential
eligibility of minors for federal disability and MA AD benefits.
Notifies relevant agency divisions regarding the disability claim
outcome. ? Prepare work schedules and assignments to subordinates for
efficient completion of work and ensures adequate staff coverage during
hours of operation. ? Review/monitor work completed by staff for
accuracy, quality and productivity and successful outcomes. ? Evaluate
job performance of subordinates by observation, record keeping and use
of relevant tasks and standards commensurate with the job functions.
Minimum Qual Requirements 1. A Master's Degree in Social Work from an
accredited school of social work and one year of full-time satisfactory
experience practicing social work utilizing one or a combination of
casework, group work and community organization methodologies.2.
Certification and License Requirement: A valid Certified Social Worker
(CSW) certificate or Licensed Master of Social Work license (LMSW)
issued by the New York State Department of Education must be obtained
within one year of the date of appointment. Employees who fail to obtain
their CSW or LMSW within one year after appointment will automatically
have their probationary periods extended for no more than six months.
Failure to obtain the CSW or LMSW by the end of 18 months of service
will result in dismissal.3. Special Note: Section 424-a of the New York
Social Services Law requires an authorized agency to inquire whether a
candidate for employment with child-care responsibilities has been the
subject of a child abuse and maltreatment report. The agency has the
discretion to assign a candidate who has been the subject of a child
abuse and maltreatment report to a position with no child-care

employees. Working with the DSS/HRA/DHS qualifies you as a public
