Patient Care Intern I - Flat Rate Requisition Number 235103 Department 8 East Simon Tower 106337 Schedule Active Supplemental Shift Rotating Job Details Under the direct supervision of the RN the incumbent administers care based upon his/her training and experience to designated patients. The position exists to assist the registered nurse in provision of care to patients. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES * Requires that the nursing student be actively enrolled in a BSN accredited program through ACEN or CCNE. * Requires completion of BSN program within 12-16 months of starting PCI program. * A PCI may remain in the job after graduation from the BSN accredited program as long as the NCLEX exam has not been attempted two times. * Requires basic knowledge of procedures for performing assigned functions; Requires knowledge to observe and assist in the assessment of patient's condition; Requires ability to detect and report obvious and/or dangerous changes in patient's condition; Requires general awareness and understanding of legal implication of patient care activities. * Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
