Inpatient, skilled nursing and acute rehab cases are created in the appropriate UM applications and routed to the CDU for coverage determination, eligibility verification, and routing to the assigned facility nurse as per the Priority Review (PR) and Secondary Level of Care (SLOC) criteria. CDU is responsible for capturing the most accurate census data as possible, timely discharge date entry, managing future scheduled admissions, and referrals to the applicable case management and disease management programs, while meeting the turn around time goals to support timely clinical review.Primary Responsibilities:Manage multiple methods of census notificationManage the multiple products and lines of business in the appropriate UM systemsReceive admission notifications for current, future, and retrospective admissions from facilities and / or Inpatient Care Managers (ICMs)Manage cases for shared risk, fully insured, partial risk carve-out, and OOA acute inpatient, skilled nursing, AIR and LTAC admissions, in the appropriate UM systemUtilize the Blended Census Report (BCRT) to identify cases requiring updates and / or correctionRoute Priority Review inpatient cases from Intake to ICM within 60 minutes.Update every acute case on a daily basis from the BCRT from the following information: IPC faxes or calls facilities requesting discharge dates, IPC takes the information from the hospital census / discharge reports, IPC receive the information from the ICM updates / corrections that have been emailed to the department mailbox, Entry of all discharge dates to any case regardless of owner, CDU owned cases closed per the PR process, ICM owned cases discharged before able to perform clinical review and Issue admission notification letter as requiredCapture timely discharge date and case closure, within 24 hours of discharge.Focus on data integrity and accuracy for multiple downstream dependencies: Accurate bed day reporting utilizing notification data initially, Timely and accurate UM system(s) census reporting for clinical staff – Onsite / Telephonic Nurses and MDs, support all the guidelines to the Priority Review Criteria for Acute and SLOC, accurate diagnosis capture to support such programs as Disease Management, Case Management and facilitate accurate reporting, accurate claims paymentGenerate referrals to Welcome Home, NRS and other applicable Optum ProgramsFoster collaborative working relationships with facilities, venders, medical groups, internal clinical staffOrient new and existing facilities to the notification requirements / processAdhere to a work schedule to that of Intake and to meet the needs of the clinical staff and maintain census timelinessOther roles and responsibilities include:Maintain the goal of 95% authorization to claims bed day data capture and meet the TAT goal of routing PR and SLOC cases from Intake to Nurse within 60 minutesProvide feedback to the CDU management team regarding census submission issues from the facilitiesIdentify new workflow processes and / or modification to existing processes as appropriate to meet program requirements and increase / maintain member and provider satisfactionFollow UM application specific SOPs for data entry and workflow consistencyMake timely case corrections based on the Health Care Economics Exception ReportsMeets expected quality and productivity standards Required Qualifications: High School Diploma / GED or higher Health care or health plan experiencePrevious experience working with Microsoft Office including Outlook (ability to create, edit, save, and send documents), Word (ability to create, edit, save, and send documents), and Excel (ability to create, edit, save, and send documents)Ability to perform ICD-10, CPT and HCPC codingUnderstanding of basic medical terminologyAbility to work on Sundays (approximately once every 6 weeks)Preferred Qualifications: Associate's Degree or higherProficiency in PC-based software programsSoft Skills:Previous experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasksPhysical & Work Environment:Must have a quiet secure designated work space and access to install secure high speed internet (minimum speed 1.5 download mps and 1 upload mps) via cable / DSL in home (NOTE: wireless/cell phone provider, satellite, microwave, etc...does NOT meet this requirement)Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
