The incumbent serves as a resource within Specimen Processing. This position may act as a Team Lead or Trainer. Essential Job Duties -1. Performs advanced trouble shooting and problem resolution (i.e., merging, canceling, crediting, client contact, writing and resolving error codes). -2. Researches reference laboratory testing requirements, collection and stability, as well as ordering, monitoring, and resulting. -3. Performs moderately complex testing. -4. May troubleshoot automation spot maintenance and problems related to specific laboratory instruments (i.e., pending logs, missing samples, unresulted tests). -5. May prepare specialized collection kits and process research samples. -6. May communicate complex information that may include test results, normal ranges, and specimen requirements. -7. May lead process improvement initiatives. -8. May act as Team Lead or Trainer which includes: Uses advanced skills to assist employees in difficult processingsituations; fulfills some coordinator functions in the absence of the coordinator or supervisor; oversees work flow and adjusts workflow assignments; provides training and orientation to new staff; and investigates, records, and corrects errors. Posting Specifics -Entry Rate: $14.77 -Part time, 20 hours per week - Monday-Friday5:00 pm- 10:00 pm.,along with weekend and holiday rotations. Weekend hours are 12:00 pm- 8:30 pm. Evening, weekend, and holiday differentials apply. -Not Benefits Eligible Minimum Requirements -High School diploma or GED in compliance with CLIA regulations. -Six months of laboratory experience. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Customer service skills. -Experience working in a team environment under stressful situations. -Self-motivated and experience working independently. -Basic computer skills. -Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays and nights. -Demonstrated knowledge of inter-relationship of computer systems. Physical Requirements -Interact with others requiring the employee to verbally communicate information. -Operate computers and complex and delicate lab equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. -See and read lab equipment, monitors, and documents. -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer or other equipment. Preferred Requirements -In depth understanding of laboratory departments as well as Intermountain Laboratory system functions. -Experience teaching concepts to others.
