    Summer Intern position in the Cellular & Molecular Toxicology Group will be focused on in vitro cellular respiration studies. Experimental approaches include in vitro cell culture, characterization of cells, & mitochondrial assays. Familiar with a variety of basic laboratory techniques, including cell culture and in vitro cell-based assays required. The candidate must be highly organized, motivated, and able to work well in a team environment.

    This assignment offers an undergraduate or graduate the opportunity to work as part of a cross-functional team in a pharmaceutical laboratory setting. This direct exposure will allow the candidate to participate in the planning, execution, analysis and reporting of experiments under the mentorship of expert scientists. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to learn the process of drug discovery process to improve the health of people worldwide.

    Qualifications

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan cell-based studies, execute experiments, and analyze data to support project timelines under mentorship
    • Document experiments in electronic lab notebooks
    • Laboratory safety and data integrity compliance
    • Present study design & interpreted data at the end of the internship period

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Enrolled in an accredited university or college throughout the entire duration of internship, pursuing a degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD) towards in Biochemistry, Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and other life science. Related fields of study may apply.

    Experience and Skills:

    Required:

    • Extensive PC based skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, GraphPad Prism and PowerPoint is required
    • Candidate must be self-motivated, reliable, organized, & Molecular and have excellent problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team and have strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
    • Attention to detail and good verbal and written communication skills are required

    Preferred:

    • Hands-on laboratory experience with a documented track record of productivity is highly preferred
    • Experience using a pipette, tracking laboratory experiments in a notebook

    Other:

    • Available to work full time (40hrs/week) in summer (June-early September) with reliable transportation to and from work site
    • Candidate must have authorization to work in the US.
