Drug Product Development (DPD) is a department in Biotherapeutics Development and Supply (BTDS). The department is responsible for formulation/process development and testing of therapeutic proteins or other biologics including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), virus like substances, cell based therapeutics and mixed conjugates. Lab Based Co-ops would have the opportunity to do lab and office Based duties. Office Based Co-ops would have the opportunity to work on Lab initiatives but may not directly link to experiments. This Opportunity is open to Business and STEM Majors.
For Lab Based Co-ops would include but not limited to the following functions:
Development and optimization of liquid and lyophilized biologics formulations, as well as execution of characterization plans and stability studies
Designing and optimizing various formulation and filling unit technical operations including freeze/thaw, mixing, sterile filtration, vial and syringe filling and lyophilization
Participate in overseeing the execution of pilot to commercial scale fill/finish manufacturing processes.
Perform studies that contribute to the continuous improvement manufacturing process, and administration equipment
Perform technical analysis of the project data, including trending of data, and may be expected to present data to peers and functional management
May be required to perform modeling studies to drive development activities
Author technical reports and make presentations of technical data
Follow general laboratory safety procedures, as related to biologically-derived materials
Perform her/his duties consistent with good laboratory practices
For Office Based Co-ops would include but not limited to the following functions:
Promote Continuous Improvement efforts and culture using Process Excellence and Lean Methodologies
Assist with Project Management of department, including communication with Key Stakeholders and suppliers
Analyze and report metrics to teams and management.
Functional Planning and reporting
Creation and management of improved trackers for Operational and Capital Expenditures.
