    Janssen Supply Chain (JSC) is recruiting for a Staff Packaging Engineer to become part of the MSAT (Manufacturing Science & Technology) COE Packaging Team, Located in Titusville, NJ or Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. In this position, the Staff Packaging LCM Engineer will work with multi-functional teams to develop, test, qualify and commercialize pharmaceutical & device package solutions for both new and existing products, while working in compliance with relevant industry standards and JSC guidelines. In addition, the position will collaborate with packaging sites (internal & external JSC sites) to support LCM, New Product Launch and Technical Transfer activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide packaging engineering support for Life Cycle Management (LCM), Tech-Transfer and new product activities (including rapid and ROW launches) activities. Support internal JSC and external (CMO) sites with technical labeling activities, the design, installation and qualification of Packaging Technologies. Promote and support sustainability and environmentally friendly packaging related initiatives. Provide support to packaging related quality and compliance investigations, root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action plan development processes to improve process reliability. Perform packaging distribution and transportation testing for new and marketed products. Also, assist with the execution of controlled temperature packaging qualifications and author technical protocols and reports. Support Shipping Route verification (SRV) related activities, as the needed. Author, review & approve packaging related documentation (i.e., packaging component specifications, Packaging Bills of Materials, Packaging Component Drawings, Global Standards, risk/criticality assessment and procedures for bulk/finished drug products). Identify and deliver cost improvement or cost avoidance projects that result cost of good reduction. Provide technical support as needed to physical & cold chain shipping studies, line trials, packaging material qualifications, child resistant requirements and human factor studies.Education:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's or Equivalent University Degree required Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or Equivalent Technical / Engineering field is preferred.

    Experience and Skills Required:

    • A minimum of six(6) years of related experience in packaging, labeling, and manufacturing processes is required.
    • Experience with primary, secondary & tertiary packaging materials & designs (i.e., cartons, inserts, pre-formed pouches, pre-formed trays, roll stock materials and/or form fill seal sterile barrier packaging designs, and various printing technologies) is required
    • Knowledge of packaging distribution / transportation testing (for cold chain & non- clod chain products) is required
    • Knowledge of secondary and distribution packaging equipment is required
    • Knowledge of cGMP is required.
    • Project management skills required.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in pharma, biologics, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing/production areas.
    • Working familiarity with recycling of packaging materials and design for the environment (Johnson & Johnson WW EHS Earthwards Tool) is preferred.
    • Ability to lead and influence others in a sophisticated matrix organization environment is preferred.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely across all levels of the company, across the supply chain, and with the commercial franchises as appropriate is preferred.
    • Project Management (PMP), Lean Six Sigma, Process Excellence, FPx, and/or Kepner Tregoe Certifications are preferred

    Other:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in English both verbal and in writing and well-developed intercultural social skills are required; additional language skills are an advantage

    • This position may require up to 25% of domestic and international travel, based on business needs.

    • The anticipated base pay range for this position is $88,000 to $142,025 The base salary range listed is based on a US pay scale and may be adjusted based on the successful candidate's geographic location
