Interpreter Category: Professional Facility: Support Services Building Department: Interpreter Services Schedule: Part Time- Benefits Eligible Shift: Day Hours: 18 hours/week, 4-hour shifts, 8am-12pm Job Details: * POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE * Facilitates communication between patients, families, and providers in various settings by providing language interpretation from one language (source) to another (target). * QUALIFICATIONS * Education * Preferred: * High School diploma or equivalent * Experience * Required: * One year of interpretation experience or enrollment in an Interpreter training program * Preferred: * One year of healthcare experience with the major emphasis of job duties focused on customer service, performance improvement, training or educating others. * Knowledge/Skills/Abilities * Bilingual in Spanish * Computer skills * Excellent communication skills, tact, stress management skills, and the ability to relate well with diverse personalities and cultures. * Customer service crisis training strongly recommended * Testing * Requires successful completion of the Language Resource Assistant (LRA) testing at a Clinical level. LRA is a language assessment test that demonstrates written and oral interpretation/translation technique skills. Test will be administered during the interview.
