ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transports patients safely and efficiently following their discharge from the ASC
- Follows appropriate transfer techniques and proper infection control procedures
- Remains alert to patient condition and promptly communicates changes to clinical staff
- Performs routine cleaning and disinfecting of patient care equipment and procedure rooms as needed
- Works under close supervision of RN to clean and high-level disinfect endoscopy instruments, scopes and other equipment used for procedures
- Knowledgeable about cleaning and disinfecting solutions used and safety measures involving solutions
- Wears PPE as required
- Follows all Wilmington Health policies and procedures
- Attends all required Wilmington Health inservices and training sessions
- Follows policy and procedure for cleaning, sterilizing and packaging of instruments/equipment/scopes
- Performs autoclave cleaning and maintenance according to manufacturer’s recommendations
- Monitors and records operation of steam sterilizer
- Maintains all required logs/records
- Keeps area clean, free of food
- Removes and empties soiled linen
- Maintains eye wash station and documents weekly log
- Cleans exhaust hood filters
- Knows location and usage of SDS and spill kits
- Stocks supplies
- Performs clerical duties as necessary
- Immediately notifies supervisor of any equipment problems
SKILLS NEEDED:
- Requires interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment
- Able to interpret verbal and written information/instructions and effectively communicate with others
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge of computer skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills and the ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment
- Able to use the following equipment safely: wheelchairs, stretchers, procedure room tables/bed, autoclave, other cleaning equipment and solutions
- Must demonstrate the following skills: ability to maintain composure under stress, move quickly and effectively to meet patient care needs, efficiency, accountability, prioritize tasks and effective time management

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: High school diploma or the equivalent
PREFERRED: Prior related work experience in an outpatient clinic or medical environment
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued through American Heart Association required, or may be attained within the first four weeks of employment.
