    XAVIER UNIVERSITY - ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT

    Xavier University Athletics is seeking an Assistant Coach for Men and Women’s Tennis.

    This is a part-time position.

    Reporting directly to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for coaching Division I student athletes for Men’s and Women’s Tennis. Qualified candidates must possess a philosophy of coaching and education that fits the mission of Xavier University and the goals of the Xavier Athletics program. Candidates must also have the ability to interact and represent Xavier Athletics and the University well with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, alumni and media.

    Duties include but are not limited to: planning and implementation of daily practices, coordination of strength training program, recruitment of qualified student-athletes, adhering to all departmental policies and procedures, as well as having a competent understanding of rules and regulations of the University, the Big East Conference and the NCAA.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Provide leadership and guidance necessary for a positive competitive environment
    • Assist with physical and mental preparation both in-season and off-season
    • Organize team meetings for distribution of athletic information forms, sports information forms, NCAA student-athlete statements and drug policy
    • Maintain regular contact with Head Coach with regard to transportation, facility preparation and condition, budgets
    • Assure compliance with NCAA and Big East rules and regulations
    • Regular communication with student-athlete academic support team
    • Work with Head Coach to complete administrative details for the sport
    • Confirm regular season schedule and practice schedule
    • Responsible for travel arrangements and funds for travel
    • Confirm the status and health of student-athletes with athletic training staff
