    Clinical Educator/Nursing | System Float Pool | Full Time Job Date: Oct 7, 2018 Location: Memphis, TN, US Company: Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare Summary Responsible for clinical orientation and provision of ongoing clinical in-service training and competency evaluation for float pool clinical Associates. Responsible for unit or department-based assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs that enhance the performance and professional development of the float pool Associates. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. Education/Experience/Licensure Education/Formal Training Work Experience Credential/Licensure REQUIRED: Masters degree required; a minimum of Masters or Bachelors degree must be in Nursing. At least 3 years experience in nursing education Registered Nurse with current license to practice in the state where work is performed. Current BLS certification. PREFERRED: Masters degree in Education or Nursing Education National specialty certification such as Certified Nurse Educator SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: N/A N/A N/A Knowledge/Skills/Abilities * Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocols, procedures, and standards within multiple areas of nursing practice . * Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements. * Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula. * Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs. * Technical leadership skills and advanced nursing skills. * Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment. Key Job Responsibilities * Assess individual clinical competencies and design educational programs based on needs. * Provides educational leadership to care providers to enhance specialized patient care within established clinical protocols. * Assists caregivers with educational needs, problem resolution, and health management across the continuum of care. * Collaborates with patient care staff and leadership in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula. * Initiates clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical and preceptorship models. * Monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters. * Provides regular feedback and advice to the staff to help them improve their practice. * Educates technical and patient care staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff. * Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. * Mantains educational records. * Provides annual and ongoing competency assessments. Physical Requirements * The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. * Must have good balance and coordination. * The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25lbs. of force frequently. * The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. * Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. * Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. * Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. * Frequent travel between hospitals.
