    The Retirement Benefits Senior Financial Analyst will receive a generous total compensation package. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance.     As a Retirement Benefits Senior Financial Analyst at Latham, you will be responsible for supporting the Latham & Watkins Retirement Benefits Operations team by providing research, analysis and organization of data and presenting findings to senior management. You will interact extensively with department members, as well as employees in the firm’s Payroll Department, Human Resources department, Finance department, external auditors and other service providers supporting the firm’s retirement programs, while accomplishing these and other critical functions:

     

    • Performing monthly reconciliation and review of defined benefit plan and 401(k) plan activity on trust and general ledger.
    • Preparing complex analyses to identify retention, promotion and attrition trends for the non-qualified partner retirement benefit. Results are used to determine long term expense and utilization of percentage of firm profits.
    • Obtaining, developing, and organizing data to facilitate effective analysis. Summarizing large volumes of data in executive summary schedules or reports. Analyzing department needs and developing reporting tools to address those needs.
    • Creating management control reports and gathering data required for the reports from various sources including PeopleSoft and vendors’ systems.
    • Performing oversight and audits of International plan operational processes
    • Completing special projects on various issues when needed.
    • Promoting effective work practices, working as a team member, and showing respect for co-workers.

     

    As a Retirement Benefits Senior Financial Analyst, you will be expected to apply your organizational and communication skills while displaying a positive, high-energy attitude. The successful Retirement Benefits Senior Financial Analyst must have expertise with PC environment and related software, including Microsoft Access and Excel for analyzing large volumes of data including development of dynamic spreadsheet applications, intermediate skills in PowerPoint, and the ability to review vast amounts of financial data from different sources and extract meaningful conclusions in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with emphasis on attention to detail and quality assurance, the ability to work independently and collaboratively on daily tasks, ad hoc assignments and projects, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to meet multiple service standards in terms of deadlines and content.

     

    A bachelor's degree required. Concentration in an analytical area of study (Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics) is highly preferred.

     

    A minimum of five years of experience in financial analysis and statistical analysis is desired. Knowledge of ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations is a plus.
