    RN ACU .8 Provides direct patientcare to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scopeand standards of practice. Performs plan ofcare intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection,clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patientcare given. Monitors, records,and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician,patient, and family. Assists patientswith performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene,elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates asneeded across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patienttransfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learningneeds of patient and/or family and provides patient/family educationappropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as anadvocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Followsestablished policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, andsensitivity to confidential information. Willing and ableto demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested. Completes acomprehensive assessment of patients' acute and chronic health problems. Formulates anursing diagnosis from assessment of patient's acute and chronic healthproblems. Completes awritten care plan for assigned patients and reviews and revises according toestablished nursing guidelines. Provides the dailycare of each patient assigned with the written care plan. Demonstratesknowledge based in areas of, but not limited to, standards of care, practiceand professional performance, policies and procedures, medications, lab valuesand legal issues. Serves on hospitalcommittees and/or participates in Q1 activities as directed by the DepartmentManager or designee. Demonstratesself-directed learning and participates in continuing education; attendsscheduled meetings. Demonstratesawareness of self-responsibility and accountability for personal professionalgrowth. Assists withorientation of new employees and staff development activities for the new unit. Demonstratesknowledge of I.V. Therapy. Demonstratesknowledge of aseptic technique while performing procedures/obtaining labspecimens. Demonstratesunderstanding and maintenance of standard precautions and isolation techniques. Demonstratesskills in performance of pre and/or post-operative procedures. Demonstratesknowledge regarding wound and skin care. Demonstrates knowledgeof patient care needs regarding the adolescent and/or adult patient (13 yearsand older). Demonstratesknowledge of patient care needs of the geriatric patient. Demonstratesknowledge of patient care needs regarding pediatric patient (0-12 years of age). Demonstratesskills and knowledge of patient care needs regarding critical care patient. Responsible forassuring monitors are completed as assigned. Abides by NursingService Behavior Standards. Maintainsconfidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support theculture of service excellence throughout the organization. Understands andadheres to Bell's compliance standards as they appear in Bell's CorporateCompliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. ** ** Tasks to beperformed when staff RN is assigned Charge function on a given shift: Individual assigned to charge isresponsible to assess, plan, direct and evaluate the delivery of care to allpatients in the following areas: Utilizing the acuity classification systemassess the number and skill level of personnel needed to provide qualitypatient care in the department for the upcoming shift. Assess the efficiencyand effectiveness of care provided on assigned shift and identifies problemswith recommendations for improvement. Directs/supervises others in the planningof patient care. Facilitates all admissions and discharges of patients to theunit. Effectively directs staff during any emergency situation. Computer and/orkeyboarding skills required. Excellent human relations and oral/writtencommunication. Excellent organizational abilities. Demonstrated teamworkskills. Ability to deal with change .Demonstrates a positive attitude towardsinitiating continuous improvement. Ability to respond appropriately even inchallenging situations. Ability to work without direct supervision. **Minimum Education **Current license to practice as an RNin the State of Michigan or graduate nurse with a valid temporary license.Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing **Required Skills **Requires critical thinking skills,decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
