    Facilities Unpaid Intern -Job Details Level Entry Job Location Main Campus - Palatine - Palatine, IL Position Type Full-Time/Part-Time Education Level High School Diploma/GED Certificate Job Shift Business hours w/flexibility Job Category Facilities Description Key Words: Intern, internship, facilities, maintenance, entry level, Palatine PURPOSE: The Facilities Intern is responsible for acting as a liaison between the various Little City program departments and the Facilities Department on a variety of projects and processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein is such duties are a logical assignment to the position. -Assist the Director of Facilities and the Facilities Project Coordinator in contacting various contractors, government entities, vendors, other non-profits, and other LC staff to coordinate construction projects done with internal resources and third-party vendors and contractors. -Assist the Facilities Project Coordinator in developing and managing project plans, project schedules, reporting status to the internal cross-functional and external teams, identifying appropriate resources needed, and ensuring quality control and high-quality results throughout the project life cycle. The intern will assist in coordinating all necessary resources to ensure timely completion of projects, all deliverables are met, assigned projects are completed on time, within budget and mutually agreed upon project specification and level of quality. -Learn the 360 work order system and input work orders deemed necessary by the Director of Facilities. -Spend some time in all Facilities teams: project management, interior maintenance, exterior maintenance, and Transportation. -Ensure that project documentation is completed including requirements, designs, development, implementation, project management and plans, policies and procedures, new standards, contracts, issues lists and project status. Maintain project files, both electronically and paper bound. -Successfully complete Little City Foundation required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City Foundation policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor. -Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities. Qualifications Pursuit of a degree in construction or project management or similar discipline with an emphasis on scheduling resources, task assignment, timeline management, project cost/duration estimation, and working with project teams including knowledge of project management techniques. Construction or maintenance experience is a plus but not a requirement. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push, pull, lift, grasp and feel. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when handling equipment and power tools. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places: fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock. The employee must continuously lift support, and/or move 60 or more pounds of weight, and frequently lift, support, and/or move up to 50 pounds in difficult work positions of weight. The noise level is normal to loud. No occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases or other potentially infectious substances (Category I).
