    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a PD-Occupational Therapist.

    In this role, the successful candidate Provides appropriate therapy to promote the ability to perform activities of daily living in an effort to achieve an optimal level of self-care. Uses clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, and age appropriate care through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention. Assumes additional leadership responsibilities to meet the needs of the department. Practices in accordance with the American Occupational Therapy Associations (AOTA) scope and standards of occupational therapy practice.

    Job Responsibilities:

    * Performs an objective Occupational Therapy Evaluation/Re-evaluation upon referral. Includes a comprehensive review of the medical chart. Occupational Therapy evaluation to include use of appropriate tests and measures in order to develop an appropriate plan of care with measurable functional goals. 
    * Implements appropriate treatment interventions based on the patient's age, diagnosis, and current functional status in accordance with the established plan of care. Demonstrates effective clinical decision making skills and implements changes/adaptations to the treatment plan as indicated. Anticipates and plans for discharge.
    * Maintains timely, thorough and accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental policy utilizing approved medical terminology. Documentation should reflect interventions and education provided, the patient tolerance of the session and any updates/changes to the established plan of care and goals. Follows insurance guidelines and utilizes appropriate charges for documentation and charge capture. 
    * Interacts and collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes and health care goals. Provides on-site clinical supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides.
    * Provides patient, family, and clinician education and training as it relates to the patient's functional abilities and plan of care.
    * Responsible for meeting patient care productivity expectation based on departmental reporting
    * Serves as a mentor, resource and/or educator in his/her area of expertise to the department and/or community. 
    * Actively keeps abreast of and uses current trends and research based evidence in occupational therapy. Maintains and continues to build upon professional competency through education and annual review. 
    * Performs other duties as assigned.
    

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (Commission on Accreditation in Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) approved OT program). Current and valid NYS Occupational Therapy license and registration. Current and valid BLS from the American Heart Association. Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills. Basic computer skills. . Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience..

    Required Licenses: Occup Therapist License-NYS

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Master's Degree Occupational Therapy (Commission on Accreditation in Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) approved OT program).

    Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60.00 - $60.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
