    Ethicon, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, has made significant contributions to surgery for more than 60 years from creating the first sutures, to revolutionizing surgery with minimally invasive procedures. The Ethicon Global Tech Ops group is recruiting for Manufacturing Engineering Co-Ops for three work rotations or sequential semesters starting Summer or Fall 2024. As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, you will be gaining hands-on experience with the opportunity to gain experience with the production of adhesives, polymer resins, monofilament and multifilament extrudate, needle manufacturing, and more!

    As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, you will have the exciting opportunity to learn more about the surgical suture and needle manufacturing process, and support high complexity engineering projects.

    Core Job Responsibilities

    • Participate in problem solving efforts by analysis and correction of chemical, electrical, and mechanical operating problems to maintain or improve existing site operations
    • Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes
    • Collaborate with Senior Engineers and mentors to implement continuous improvement projects
    • Deliver end of semester presentations to showcase work to site management and participate in J&J Credo volunteer activities across the site

    Qualifications

    • Enrollment in an accredited college/university pursuing a Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Electrical engineering, Material Science, Computer Science, or similar degree is required
    • Completion of your first year with a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA is required
    • Authorization to work in the United States and not require sponsorship in the future is required (F-1 student Visa status is accepted with CPT)
    • Dedication to working full time (40 hours per week) on-site for the duration of the co-op is required
    • A housing stipend will be provided based on eligibility
    • Expected to provide your own transportation to and from the work location.

    Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

    • Pay strong attention to detail, be highly organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
    • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills with manufacturing associates, management, contractors, and suppliers - opportunities to improve your technical writing, speaking, and presentation skills are numerous and strongly supported
    • Ability to work both independently and on multi-functional, diverse teams
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) with a basic knowledge of pivot tables and graphs. Experience with statistical analysis techniques and software is a plus
    • Experience with CAD, Tableau, PowerBI, and/or Minitab is a plus
    • Knowledge of industrial control systems (PLC/DCS), instrumentation, and/or MES systems is a plus.
    • Proven leadership and participation in campus/community service activities is preferred
