EXERCISE SPECIALIST INTERNSHIP (unpaid) City Mankato State Minnesota Telecommute No Department Nursing Position description MASTERS STUDENTS ONLY As an Exercise Specialist intern, you will experience: Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation, as well as the Exercise Is Medicine Program (medically-supervised exercise program) Risk factor assessment & reduction Patient care case management Patient education, such as: cardiovascular exercise, strength training, anatomy of the heart, stress management, nutrition, etc Functional testing Exercise prescription / leadership (Cardiovascular, strength, balance & flexibility) Motivational interviewing / wellness coaching Observations: oNutrition/ Diabetes Counseling oPulmonary Function Testing oCardiopulmonary Exercise Testing oStress Testing oCardiac Catheterization Lab Your Responsibilities will include: Providing exercise prescriptions & consultations Administering fitness assessments Providing behavior & physical activity counseling Obtaining patient vital signs & inputting data Interpreting electrocardiograms & recognizing rhythms Providing patient education, including teaching classes Reviewing patient cases Completing a project of your choosing Delivering high-quality customer service.
