    Job Summary:

    The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory duties with the highest standards of quality, safety, integrity, and efficiency. This role supports laboratory operations by conducting toxicology testing, maintaining equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing accurate and timely test results. The Medical Technologist works collaboratively with providers, patients, and laboratory staff to deliver exceptional diagnostic services. Essential duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of routine laboratory procedures related to toxicology testing.
    • Perform laboratory testing in accordance with laboratory protocols to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely results.
    • Conduct high-complexity testing and analysis in the area of toxicology.
    • Accurately report test results to ordering healthcare providers.
    • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure proper functionality and availability.
    • Perform clerical and documentation tasks accurately to support test ordering, specimen tracking, and result reporting.
    • Adhere to quality control, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Resolve client inquiries and laboratory-related issues through phone calls and other communication methods.
    • Monitor and maintain laboratory inventory, ensuring adequate supplies are available at all times.
    • Comply with laboratory safety standards, infection control procedures, and workplace policies.
    • Cross-train and assist in specimen collection and medical assisting functions as needed.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.

    Supervisory Duties:

    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications:

    • High school graduate or equivalent plus 3 years of laboratory testing experience in chemistry or toxicology (will need to provide documentation of training).

    Or

    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical laboratory technology.

    Skills & Abilities

    • Knowledge of specimen handling, preservation, processing, and storage procedures to ensure specimen integrity and accurate testing results.
    • Working knowledge of reagent preparation, stability requirements, and proper storage practices.
    • Proficiency in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and verbal communication.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory-related documentation.
    • Basic mathematical skills required for laboratory calculations and quality control activities.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, track patient care activities, and support efficient workflow.
    • Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor and a strong understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and commitment to producing accurate and reliable results.
    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and consistently.
    • Strong computer proficiency, including experience with laboratory information systems, electronic medical records, and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
    • Ability to adapt and perform efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clinic/lab setting. This position is 100% in-office due to the nature of the responsibilities.

    Compensation & Work Schedule:

    • Full-time: 40 hours/week.
    • Non-Exempt.
    • Day Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30AM - 4:00PM
    • No evenings or weekends.
