Under the VOCA Grant program guidance of the MAP Social Work Coordinator, as well as the practice guidance of the Lead Social Worker, the MAP Social worker provides direct support and interventions to patients and their families when there is a suspicion or report of abuse and/or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, intimate partner violence (IPV), and/or sexual abuse/assault. This role provides education, counseling, safety plans, lethality assessments and referrals to resources such as IPV/Elder Abuse agencies, safe houses, therapists, free or low cost legal aid agencies, DSS and law enforcement agencies; including coordination of social work services and other requirements as specified by VOCA grant. This position communicates findings with the appropriate MUSC clinicians. Minimum Training and Education: Master's degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Three years post graduate professional social work experience. Requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Demonstrates ability to collaborate in a positive, professional manner with medical professionals. Requires ability to work in a thorough but efficient manner. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: MSW licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners. Certification in case management preferred.
