Job Description Provides technical and user support for Radiology staff at all MSKCC sites with personal computers, notebooks, servers and Information Technology systems, particularly in areas without dedicated support staff. Ensures users have appropriate computing equipment to perform their job functions efficiently by communicating with staff, surveying current tools in the market and offering suggestions within departmental budgetary constraints. Provides first line support to computing problems experienced by Radiology users by responding, resolving and/or escalating problems reported Resolves problems within a time frame based on the severity of the problem (ie replacing in stock peripheral equipment should only take minutes). Responds to calls from the help desk, directly from users or upon a supervisors instruction. Diagnoses and repairs minor software and hardware problems using standard MSKCC procedures where possible Provides support for the non-DMS workstations that are not serviced by Information systems by repairing problems or escalating issues Advises individuals and groups within the department regarding data sharing, storage and transmission using both MSKCC models and latest technology. Liaises with Information Systems to ensure Radiology users have adequate storage and access to their data Arranges for alternate support from the correct resource when an issue cannot be resolved. This may he within the Radiology Information Technology group or outside the department from groups such as Information Systems, Networking or Telecommunications. Assistance may also be required from outside vendors such as General Electric. Supervises/reviews service calls performed by IS staff in Radiology wherever possible Uses should he kept abreast of their problem calls by either email, phone calls or personal conversations. Users should be made aware of any changes that repair may cause to their systems Liaises with appropriate hospital groups to ensure Radiology staff have correct and appropriate access to required systems. Sets up and modifies user accounts where appropriate or coordinates this task with the hospital security officer Trains users in group or individual sessions as required Installs and maintains computer equipment for use in the Radiology department. Maintains and supports dictation systems in Radiology. Assists manager in the definition of departmental computing requirements by researching and discussion with colleagues, and works with Information Systems to provide this service. Requests and checks the installations of network connections for deployments Ensures all static IP addresses are sent to the hospital DNS server to he maintained within a day of installation. Establishes a checklist of items to be inspected prior to an installation and conducts site survey in advance of deployment. Defines a timeline for all deployments and perform all tasks within stated time period Tests all equipment deployed and ensures working as per specification of manufacture and user Coordinates and supervises the installation and configuration of desktop computers and peripheral equipment performed by Information Systems. Recognizes and diagnoses network performance problems within Radiology. Works with other hospital departments such as Networking, Information systems and Telecommunications to ensure Radiology has its required infrastructure and that this is operating adequately. Escalates where necessary and follows any problems through to resolution where users and systems communicate efficiently. Manages the operation of the Lanier departmental dictation system by preventative maintenance and responding to user issues. Troubleshoots and coordinates with the vendor to repair any dictation system hardware. Ensures there are sufficient replacement parts on site for smooth departmental operation. This includes microphones, PCs and servers running the Automated Speech Recognition system and the consoles and servers running Lanier. Opens trouble tickets with vendors where appropriate and follows though to resolution where users are satisfied and system are running as per specifications.
