    Diet Clerk - FT/Variable Position Summary _ _ The Diet Clerk is responsible for collaborating with members of the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) department and nursing/ancillary staff to ensure patients meal tickets and trays follow the doctors orders. The Diet Clerk assists the Clinical Dietitian supervisor, the Registered Dietitians and the Diet Technician (DTR) with duties related to patient nutritional care. This includes checking meal selections, updating the electronic patient kardex, prepare and deliver nourishments, print nourishment and tube feeding labels, take food temperatures, answer Skylight pager and preparing the production tally. The Diet Clerk continually responds to telephone and computer messages to ensure patients needs are met. In addition, the Diet Clerk performs the checker position on trayline, to ensure proper accuracy of tray assembly and presentation. The Diet clerk acts as a mentor to the Hostess and Foodservice staff. The Diet Clerk also assists with Hostess/Foodservice staff in- service/guidance as needed and other administrative and related duties as assigned. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job * Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written in English * Provide excellent customer service to ensure patients needs are met * Communicate effectively with the FNS, nursing and ancillary staff to implement nutrition orders and improve patient services * Ability to update the electronic kardex with the most current diet order, supplement, nourishment, tube feed, likes and dislikes allergies, fluid restriction, etc. in Computrition. * Ability to process the patients menus according to diet order and patient preference/allergies, and any special instructions using Computrition. * Demonstrate the ability to correct menus according to meal patterns for special diets * Ability to print production tallies and other reports for tray line, TF and nourishment meal services using Computrition. * Demonstrate the ability to apply infection control policies and procedures for safe food handling. * Ability to check tray line for accuracy according to physicians diet order * Ability to act as a mentor to the Hostess/Foodservice staff by assisting with in-services and guidance as needed * Demonstrate ability to contribute as a team member to complete tasks, resolve problems and achieve department goals. * O-D50832000v1 * Ability to maintain a clean working environment * Ability to be at work and be on time * Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives * Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner * Ability to prioritize and multitask Experience * Six (6) months Foodservice experience in a hospital or skilled nursing facility preferred. * Customer service experience preferred Education * High School Diploma or equivalent * Knowledge of basic computer operation **Primary Location: **United States-California-Fountain Valley **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Dietitian,Food%26Nutrition Srvc **Organization: **MemorialCare Health System **Job Level: **Staff **Schedule: **Full-time **Job Posting: **Dec 28, 2018, 12:53:38 PM **Shift: **Variable
