    HCC Coding Intern, Risk Adjustment--(F/T) Job summary: The HCC Coding Intern is responsible for assisting with HCC audits and projects as well as learning about, planning, and performing chart reviews focused on accurate diagnosis coding throughout the foundation. Duties & Responsibilities: * Learning and developing medical diagnosis coding expertise * Develop chart review skills and perform documentation audits focused on accurate diagnosis coding * Assist coding team with improving coding accuracy by learning and performing audits of physician and hospital records * Learn how to provide input and develop expertise for HCC coding best practices * Enhance any other skills needed to add value to the risk adjustment department deliverables * Become subject matter expert in the HCC model and risk adjustment * Develop knowledge of foundation programs and structure * Be at work and be on time * Follow company policies, procedures and directives * Interact in a positive and constructive manner * Develop chart review skills and perform documentation audits focused on accurate diagnosis coding * Independently perform quality assurance and documentation audits and communicate results effectively * Working knowledge of foundation structure and programs * Pass CPC Exam within 75 days of starting internship * Use Word, PowerPoint and Excel to formulate feedback reporting to providers as directed * Retrieve medical records through EMR, fax or in-office retrievals to support various audits and education projects * Professional and clear communication with team and provider offices as required for projects and job functions * Ability to work in fast paced environment and flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously * Update educational tools and materials as directed by HCC Clinical Supervisor * Meet deadlines and productivity standards as set by HCC Clinical Supervisor * Compliance with MemorialCare standards and practices __Qualifications & Experience: · Successful completion in a certified Medical Coding Program · Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding, with emphasis on diagnosis codes · Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills · Healthcare and/or managed care experience a plus · Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) · Detail-oriented and organized with excellent follow-through skills · Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
