Responsibilities and Qualifications Coordinates activities for Physicians as well as the Administrative Directors and Managers. Coordinate efforts with the physician to insure quality patient interactions and an efficiently managed physician schedule. Performs clerical and secretarial duties requiring an understanding of the department. Performs Medical Assistant duties. Assists with all aspects of patient care as directed by nurses and physicians. Works independently and receives a minimum of detailed supervision or guidance. In coordination with MD, manages physicians? daily calendar, including scheduling patient appointments according to physician rotation.Handles and prioritizes phone calls and incoming correspondence.Sets up meetings and meeting rooms and schedules appointments.Manages physician mail and telephone calls.Prepares patients scheduled for procedures through education using cath packets and start the process for obtaining pre-certifications.Coordinates effective communication with entire team (MD, RN, office management, office staff) to provide maximum efficiency of the MD and provide quality patient care. Calls patients with test results upon direction from MD or RN.Coordinates patient flow during physician office hours by making sure that the patients are placed in an exam room in a timely manner. Performs preliminary assessments of the patients by obtaining vital signs, complaint or reason for the visit, and list medications. Performs EKG?s; hook up holter monitors, event recorders, etc. Consults with MD and/or RN regarding lab results and medication changes (including ?Pro-times?). Qualifications:Because youre committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. Thats why youll bring to your role the right set of qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent.Two or more years of medical/clerical experience. 1-2 years experience as a medical assistant is essential.
