Responsibilities and Qualifications Under the direction of the RN or Physician, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patients highest level of safety and wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Performs technical skills, for pediatric & adult patients, such as dressing changes, suctioning, OCL application, bedside EKG, POC testing, obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, transferring patients. Assists in unit operational support tasks or duties. Thats why youll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:High School Diploma or G.E.DPatient care experience of at least 1 year preferredResponsibilities:Safety/Risk Management:a. Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection control techniques.b. Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies.c. Labels and properly secures guest?s/patient?s personal property.d. Adheres to hospital wide safety regulations.e. Performs equipment safety checks and reports faultyequipment/initiates repair.f. Follows policy/procedure for completion of incident reports (MERS).g. Follows confidentiality policy/procedure.h. Complies with patient rights/regulations.Coordination of Services:a. Assists in the orientation of new/float personnel.b. Acquires adequate supplies to perform daily care.c. Acquires, sets up, and properly disposes of equipment for special procedures.d. Prioritizes appropriately and utilizes good judgement in use of time.e. Participates in QI activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.Primary Aspects:a. Administers basic hygiene measures.b. Performs routines activities: ambulation, passes trays, snacks, water, feeds patients, turns and positions patients, observes for skin breakdown.c. Gathers and records patient data.d. Performs technical skills related to unit requirements: trach care, tube feedings, suctioning, and dressing changes.e. Performs phlebotomy skills, Sure Step Pro and POC.f. Performs EKG?s.g. Observes changes or unusual occurrences in patient condition and reports them immediately to the appropriate personnel.h. Provides patients and their families with explanation of care and psychological support under the direction of the nurse.i. Participates in the admission, discharge and transfer of patients and their belongings.j. Applies knowledge of cost effectiveness without jeopardizing patient outcome.k.Assures all patient charges/credits are entered appropriately.l. Demonstrates flexibility regarding workload, assignments and change.Communication Management:a. Accepts delegation of tasks.b. Communicates with other members of the HCT to optimize the care of the patient.c. Communicates with the patient and family. Technology:a. Performs unit specific computer functions.b.
