    Description

    At Johnson & Johnson, we are addressing the complex challenge of biotherapeutic drug expression by addressing the dynamic nature of cell culture, aiming to enhance product quality and efficiency in manufacturing. As part of our Cell Engineering and Analytical Sciences (CEAS) team, you will play a crucial role in this endeavor.

    We are seeking a highly motivated and driven student to join our team as a Metabolomics Research Co-op. This position is for six months; must be available to work full time and on-site. In this role, you will play a key part in using mass spectrometry to expand our metabolomics capabilities by developing an untargeted metabolomics library and implementing targeted metabolomics methods. This opportunity offers hands-on industry experience with cutting-edge mass spectrometers and the chance to work within a collaborative and dynamic team environment.

    Your work will significantly contribute to improving the manufacturing of biotherapeutics at Johnson & Johnson. You'll gain expertise in sample preparation, data analysis, and statistical analysis of large datasets, growing both your knowledge and our team's capabilities in this exciting field.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop an untargeted metabolomics library to improve our analytical capabilities.
    • Implement targeted metabolomics methods to support ongoing research projects.
    • Collaborate with internal multi-functional teams and engage with external partners to advance research initiatives.
    • Manage project logistics, including the coordination of sample transfers from the Cell Line Development group and ordering of materials required for project completion.
    • Adhere to site and lab policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a MS/ PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

    Experience and Skills:

    Required:

    • The work is quantitative, and experience in sample preparation is essential.
    • Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
    • Candidates need to be highly proficient with Microsoft Office (including a high proficiency with generating pivot tables and graphs), and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
    • Demonstrates ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems.
    • Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with Mass Spectrometry, HPLC, and analytical instrumentation is highly desired.
    • Prior laboratory experience is preferred.
    • Prior knowledge and use of analytical software packages are preferred.

    Other:

    • A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
