Status: Full Time Shift: Day Shift Hours: 9:30a - 6p Hours Per Week: 40 Starting Hourly Rate: 18.45 Contact Information: * Contact: Andrew Skarka Job Details: * Bachelor's Degree * * Purpose of Job * The Volunteer Recruiter and Coordinator for Methodist Hospital (NMH) and Methodist Women's Hospital (WH) will be part of the Volunteer Services Department team providing support to the Methodist Health System. This position's primary responsibilities will be to recruit and maintain the volunteer corps for both Methodist Hospital and the Women's Hospital. This position also will have additional duties specific to Women's Hospital including overseeing the WH teen volunteer program and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the volunteer-run WH gift shop, as necessary. This position will maintain an office at the Women's Hospital, will be expected to travel to Methodist Hospital regularly as a second office site, and will report to the Director of Patient and Guest Services. * Job Requirements * Education * Bachelor's degree required * An emphasis in communications, business, marketing, or healthcare related field preferred. * Experience * Two to five years experience in a hospital, customer service environment, and/or a non-profit organization required. * Experience supervising volunteers preferred. * Previous experience as a volunteer preferred. * License/Certifications * N/A * Skills/Knowledge/Abilities * Ability to work with a variety of personalities and possession of strong customer service skills. * Skilled in interviewing and recruiting. * Ability to plan projects, adhere to deadlines, and to develop and maintain schedules. * Ability to multi-task. * Skilled in team building and teaching. * Knowledge of cash handling techniques. * Ability to work and make decisions independently of supervisor. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Computer skills and willingness to learn new computer programs (including Microsoft Office Retail Management Software and Volgistics). * Physical Requirements * Weight Demands * Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. * Physical Activity * Occasionally Performed (1%-33%): * Climbing * Crawling * Crouching * Kneeling * Lifting * Pulling/Pushing * Repetitive Motions * Twisting * Frequently Performed (34%-66%): * Carrying * Fingering/Touching * Grasping * Keyboarding/typing * Reaching * Sitting * Standing * Stooping/bending * Constantly Performed (67%-100%): * Distinguish colors * Seeing/Visual * Speaking/talking * Walking * Balancing * Hearing * Job Hazards * Not Related: * Chemical agents (Toxic, Corrosive, Flammable, Latex) * Biological agents (primary air born and blood born viruses) (Jobs with Patient contact) (BBF) * Physical hazards (noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, outdoors, sharps) (more than ordinary office environment) * Equipment/Machinery/Tools * Explosives (pressurized gas) * Electrical Shock/Static * Radiation Alpha, Beta and Gamma (particles such as X-ray, Cat Scan, Gamma Knife, etc) * Radiation Non-Ionizing (Ultraviolet, visible light, infrared and microwaves that causes injuries to tissue or thermal or photochemical means) * Mechanical moving parts/vibrations * Rare (1-33%): - Driving * Frequent (67%-100%): - Normal office environment * Essential Job Functions * Essential Functions I * ------------ Responsible for the recruitment and placement of all volunteers for Methodist Hospital, Methodist Women's Hospital and physician clinic affiliates. * ------------ Reviews and processes all incoming volunteer applications for both hospitals. * ------------ Interviews, selects, and matches all volunteers to available positions at each hospital. * ------------ Coordinates and tracks all on-boarding of volunteers, including employee health exams, annual reviews, and background checks to make sure each new volunteer is processed according to Hospital policy and The Joint Commission requirements. * ------------ Provides leadership and support to volunteers. * ------------ Responsible for orientation and training to new volunteers. * ------------ Coordinates the scheduling for all Volunteer Service areas assigned to the Women's Hospital, plus select service areas at Methodist Hospital and affiliates. Ensures that any vacancies are filled and department contact is notified. * ------------ Creates and mails the monthly schedule to all volunteer service areas at WH and to select areas for NMH. * ------------ Maintains and updates volunteer database with membership, and service area information. * ------------ Responsible for working with Director to ensure all services are up-to-date with all duties, policy and procedures, lists, calendars, etc. * ------------ Assists with inventory and gift shop storeroom procedures for Women's Hospital Gift Shop, as needed. * ------------ Provides support, as necessary, for the retail function of the Women's Hospital Gift Shop. * ------------ Assists with volunteer recognition program. * ------------ Assists with all fundraising and donor / member cultivation. * ------------ Participates in strategic planning meetings for the major fundraisers and provides support to committee members. * ------------ Offers support and coordination at all donor and member recognition events and fundraisers. * ------------ Maintains WH volunteer workroom and orders supplies as necessary. * ------------ Promotes positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers and co-workers. * Essential Functions II * ------------ Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management. * ------------ Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and company policies/procedures. * ------------ Other duties as assigned.
