General Statement of Duties: The Chaplain Intern provides spiritual care to meet the spiritual, religious, emotional, and psychological needs of patients, families, and hospital employees; assists in the implementation of department services and functions in conjunction with other department members; and participates in all aspects of the Clinical Pastoral Education program. Essential Job Functions: 1. Cooperates with Chaplain Clinicians to provide spiritual care to patients, families, and staff on assigned clinical units and on call. 2. Provides spiritual screening and assessment of patients, family members, and staff. Documents the spiritual assessments as required. Individuals that have not completed ½ (200 hours) of a Clinical Pastoral Education unit must be under direct supervision of a clinical chaplain. 3. Cooperates with other health care professionals in the patient rounds, care team meetings, support groups, and other multi-disciplinary teams. 4. Responds to all referrals for spiritual care relative to the assigned clinical units and on call requests, documenting the follow up. Provides crisis intervention and spiritual care to persons in physical, emotional, and/or spiritual distress. Individuals that have not completed ½ (200 hours) of a Clinical Pastoral Education unit must be under direct supervision of a clinical chaplain. 5. Participates in the rotation for 24-hour on call, delegating or responding to all referrals and requests. Individuals that have not completed ½ (200 hours) of a Clinical Pastoral Education unit must be under direct supervision of a clinical chaplain. 6. Participates in group seminars, individual supervision, clinical ministry and other curriculum events as scheduled required in Clinical Pastoral Education. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: 1. Enrollment in an accredited college or theological seminary degree program, or its equivalent as determined by the CPE Admissions Committee. The employee will have the burden of proof to show the equivalent acceptance by the CPE Admissions Committee. 2.
