The Research Coordinator II will be working closely with both Dr. Anna Coghill and Dr. Lauren Peres, faculty members in the Department of Cancer Epidemiology. Dr. Coghill is cancer epidemiologist whose goal is to better understand how viruses contribute to cancer. Her current research focuses on characterizing the role of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in cancer risk and treatment response. Dr. Peres is a cancer epidemiologist with an active portfolio in multidisciplinary, collaborative research on cancer health disparities, primarily in ovarian cancer. Her current research focuses on elucidating the contributing molecular and environmental causes of the worse outcomes among African-American women with ovarian cancer. The Research Coordinator would be primarily responsible for supporting Drs. Coghill and Peres with the coordination and management of day-to-day research activities associated with their various projects. Position Highlights: * Challenging and interesting work in the Cancer Epidemiology arena * Opportunity for a diverse research experiences, assisting two principal investigators The Ideal Candidate: * A professional, personable, and detail-oriented individual with scientific/medical knowledge and experience coordinating research studies. * Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to multi-task, and take initiative. * Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) are required. * Skills in statistical programming (SAS, R, Stata, or SPSS) and descriptive analyses are desired. * Skills in reference management (EndNote or Mendeley) are desired. Responsibilities: * Coordinate administrative tasks for the investigators, including protocol amendment changes and preparation of IRB documents for regulatory review * Oversee and manage data and specimen inventories, including specimen shipment and tracking * Maintain effective working relationships with collaborators * Organize and participate in study conference calls and meetings * Search and retrieve relevant scientific literature * Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and conference presentations Credentials and Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with 1 year of relevant experience OR Associate's degree with 3 years of relevant experience required. * Hands on experience preferred. * Must have the ability to work well under the pressure of meeting mandatory deadlines. * Good oral and written communication skills are required. * Must have ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments. * Need to have the ability to read, write, interpret and apply instructions to assigned activities. * Experience in the use of office equipment. * Experience working with computers and MS Office software environment.
