Equine Specialist Muckleshoot Indian Tribe 15 reviews - Auburn, WA JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Family & Youth BH Program Manager, the Equine Specialist is responsible for assisting the equine therapist during mental health sessions. The equine specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety of clients takes direction from the therapist in the co-facilitation of sessions and provides for the care and feeding of the horses used in Equine Assisted Counseling. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist in Equine assisted counseling sessions, groom and prepare horses for sessions, supervise horsemanship activities (may include mounted activities), follow directive of the equine therapist to meet the goals of the clients treatment plan, collaborate in designing appropriate exercises/activities for the clients. Provide for safety of all participants. * Maintain horse and barn care including maintaining a safe barn environment, providing for the care of horses, keeping appropriate records for horse husbandry, interface with facilities departments. * Assist with 4-H leadership, planning and preparing meetings. Assist with projects; attend county and state fairs as needed with youth, staff 4-H summer camp. * Periodically provide appropriate horses and transporting them for groups or camps. * Because of the Tribes commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION REQUIRED: * Graduation from a high school or equivalent * Three (3) years of equestrian and horse animal husbandry experience PREFERRED:
