    Summer Intern - Pharmacology Pharmacology South San Francisco, California ------------ Description SUMMARY: At MyoKardia, our goal is to precision medicine where we feel it is needed most: to alter the course of cardiovascular disease. Become part of it all as a Myokardia Summer Intern. Weve launched an exciting internship program for students who are looking to gain valuable work experience in a collaborative, values-based company on the cutting edge of precision medicine. Myokardias summer internship program will take place over a 12 to 16-week period, with both science-based and general corporate roles. Summer interns will have the opportunity to work on interesting projects with direct mentoring from an intern manager. We are driven by two great passions: improving the lives of our patients and engaging in innovative science to make it possible. Come help us make a difference as a Myokardia Summer Intern within the Department of Pharmacology. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * The objective for the intern will be to gain personal experience in targeted assay development with the goal of establishing a battery of testing. Myokardia will utilize this to evaluate small molecule efficacy in various disease models of cardiac dysfunction, using hemodynamic exercise tolerance as a benchmark biomarker. Ultimate output of project or results * The intern will have guidance from the pharmacology group in pre-clinical model development and assay testing with ability for autonomous data generation * Present work at group and company meetings * Ability to work independently and in coordination with a team of scientists * Ability to multi-task, with flexibility to changing plans and schedules * Good organizational, communication, and team skills, with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: In order to be eligible for the MyoKardia Summer Internship Program, the student must be a currently-enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, and have finished at least 4 semesters or 6 quarters of undergraduate study before the beginning of the Summer Program. * Applicants with an academic background (GPA of at least 3.0) and strong interest in physiology, biology, kinesiology, medicine, veterinary, or similar field

    • Basic knowledge of the physiology of the cardiovascular system, previous cardiovascular experimental experience a plus * Priority will be given to candidates with previous hands-on experience working with in vivo models * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Highly-motivated team player, willing to work collaboratively as part of a multi-functional team
