Weve launched an exciting internship program for students who are looking to gain valuable work experience in a collaborative, values-based company on the cutting edge of precision medicine. MyoKardia is seeking a self-starter and results-oriented individual with entrepreneurial drive who is looking to gain hands-on, real-world experience as part of the Business Development (BD) team at MyoKardia. We are a fast-moving and lean/nimble organization; expect to roll up your sleeves and find creative ways to consistently deliver excellent work product with limited resources. As an intern in the BD function, you will complete a mentored project with material impact on the strategic direction of the company. We are looking first for strong alignment and fit with Company mission/values/culture; and second for the necessary analytical horsepower, a track record of demonstrated excellence, and intellectual curiosity. About the Summer Internship Program MyoKardias summer internship program will take place over a 10 to 12-week period from May through August, 2018, with both science-based and general corporate roles. Summer interns have the opportunity to work on interesting projects with direct mentoring from an intern manager. Our Mission To change the world for patients with serious cardiovascular disease through bold and innovative science Our Core Values * Patients First * Passion for Science * Succeed Together * Imagine and Innovate * Lifelong Learning Role Description and Qualifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Participate in proactive, thesis-driven review of strategic opportunities for MyoKardia in the precision cardiovascular space * Interact with research, clinical and commercial teams to interrogate a defined disease area or technological opportunity; deliver oral presentations of your work in both all-company and senior leadership formats * Based on above work, make a recommendation whether to pursue opportunity and support the preparation of a business case for in-licensing of new technologies or assets Education * Required: BS/BA in life sciences, engineering or related * Preferred: Current enrollment in or recent completion of an advanced degree (MSc, PhD, MBA) in a field relevant to life sciences, engineering or business Competitive candidates should be able to show evidence of: * Interest in a future career in business development, competitive intelligence, or related * A high level of internal drive and intellectual curiosity You generate your own forward inertia * Fluency at the intersection of life sciences and business and exceptional ability to partner effectively with professionals of diverse backgrounds * Experience using scientific or technical sources to answer a business question * Ability to be exhaustive in tackling problems and to be your own best critic * Comfort operating in a world of incomplete information, integrating disparate sources and delivering thoughtful conclusions * Great time management skills and ability to track project milestones independently While helpful, extensive business experience is not a prerequisite for this position. However, you should be able to help us draw a clear line from your past experiences to an interest in a future career in a business-related field in biopharma.
