The Janssen External Innovation Neuroscience team is recruiting for a Summer Intern located at the California Innovation Center in Brisbane, CA.

Janssen has been deeply rooted in Neuroscience for over 60 years, developing innovative medicines that have advanced treatments for diseases of the nervous system. The External Innovation team strives to enhance the Janssen neuroscience pipeline through innovative scientific & medical advancements worldwide. The specific internship role will focus on the Neuroscience therapeutic area and be located on site at the San Francisco Bay Campus in Brisbane, CA (pending CA state safety regulations).

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Landscape / map Neuroscience related companies in the US and Canada having assets that align to the Janssen Neuroscience portfolio (e.g. neurodegeneration – AD, PD, MS, ALS etc; or Neuropsychiatry e.g. MDD, BD, Schizophrenia etc, other – e.g. orphan diseases)

• Generate a final report including the following:

  • Stage of asset development (eg. Late Lead Optimization, New Molecular Entity, Phase 1, etc.) as per public information

  • Company inflection point(s) based on publicly available information (eg. safety reporting, progression of clinical development, etc.)

  • Company attributes including, but not limited to, funds raised to date (amount and series); private vs. public companies; company size & location(s), founders

  • Key competitors

  • Other attributes, as appropriate

• Track milestones and timing for existing Neuroscience IC projects and collaborations to be used for resource tracking purposes

• Identify and create a searchable resource of Neuroscience conferences, noting key data presentations (US and Global) and sponsors

• Integrate into the CA Innovation Center by attending meetings, seminars, team meetings, partner meetings, as appropriate

Qualifications

Education:

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status

• Candidates must be actively enrolled in an accredited University for the duration of the internship assignment pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree

• Strong analytical, writing and quantitative skills

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Ability to take ownership for and work independently on project activities.

• Familiarity with various platform search engines

Preferred:

• Major(s) in Science (Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Neuroscience)

• Proven leadership/participation with campus programs and/or community service activities is desired

• Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills
