    Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - PRN Work Location: Nashua Street Jail - Suffolk County State/Territory: US-MA City: Boston # of Openings: 1 Status: Full time Shift: 2nd Description NaphCare has an excellent opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Nashua Street Suffolk House of Corrections team! The NP/PA works under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator and the Medical Director. The NP/PA is responsible for ensuring that company goals and objectives are achieved in their assigned service delivery area, conducting, leading, directing, managing, and evaluating medical services to ensure that contractual obligations and client expectations are met. They are also responsible for assuring all medical services are in compliance with the requirements of NCCHC, ACA, and professional medical standards. Position Requirements: Current, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of employment Current DEA registration Minimum of 1 year experience in primary care with correctional healthcare preferred Valid CPR Card Performance Expectations: Provide direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological, psychological, and emotional needs of the patient within the framework established by the correctional system. Obtain history and perform physical examination to determine patient health status and communicate all findings verbally and in writing. Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies throughout the facility. Participate in emergency planning, disaster programs and drills as appropriate. Conduct rounds in the medical and infirmary units, sick call visits, and chronic care management, using established clinical guidelines. Schedule and perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures as assigned. Identify patient health conditions and prescribe treatment based on diagnosis with appropriate and timely referrals. Evaluate patients by the end of the next work day who are returning from offsite treatment to review any information regarding the diagnosis, recommendations, or additional follow-up treatment required. Provide phone consultation and support for the medical staff and ensure that all verbal orders are countersigned. Formulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan, and evaluate/modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes. Maintain overall primary care responsibility for the management of clinical issues of each patient, including those services provided by consultants and outside resources.
