    Job Description

    As a FAMILY SERVICES COORDINATOR you will provide support and guidance to family members of trauma patients and discuss end-of-life decision options, including organ and tissue donation. This individual will work in close collaboration with hospital and other NEDS staff to determine best time to discuss the opportunity for donation with families and work with them to obtain consent for donation. You will also work within hospitals to increase physician and other hospital personnel openness and responsiveness to potential organ and tissue donation cases by developing effective relationships with key physicians and other  hospital staff.

    SCHEDULE: The schedule for this position is 12 on-call shifts per month. Shifts begin at 0600 and end at 2400 (18 hour shifts). In some instances, the Coordinator may be required to remain on-site past 2400 depending on case dynamics and clinical activity. 

    PLEASE NOTE: WILL BE REQUIRED TO TRAVEL A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT THROUGHOUT NEW ENGLAND. MILEAGE AND OTHER REIMBURSEMENTS AVAILABLE.

    Compensation is determined based on work experience and transferable skills, with the range starting in the mid-70k, higher for directly relatable experience.

    Qualifications

    • IDEAL CANDIDATE LIVES IN RHODE ISLAND OR SOUTHERN MA
    • Spanish and/or Portuguese language proficiency preferred
    • Experience in crisis intervention, assessment and counseling required.
    • Background in mental health, bereavement counseling, pastoral counseling or social work and previous hospital experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience in hospice care, bereavement counseling, pastoral counseling and social work preferred.
    • Previous hospital experience preferred.
    • An ability to work compassionately and professionally with families in crisis, and to advocate for donation and transplantation.
    • An ability to develop effective professional relationships, possesses superior communication skills, and demonstrates the ability to quickly understand the culture of an organization and work effectively within it.
    • Must have a valid state drivers' license

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Health Sciences or related field required. Master's degree highly preferred.
