    Clinical Educator Cardiology Services Job Locations US-AZ-Flagstaff | US-AZ-Cottonwood Requisition ID 2018-3856 Recruiter: JESSICA BROCK Recruiter Email: Jessica.fontenot@nahealth.com Schedule Days Overview The Cardiac Clinical Educator institutes and oversees cardiac education for all cardiology services at Northern Arizona Healthcare including cath labs, imaging and diagnostic testing, and when necessary, cardiac rehabilitation education in the development of competencies for all NAH staff levels. The educator provides on-going orientation and professional development and works collaboratively in the development and implementation of hospital-wide education programs. This leadership position acts a role model through 1:1 clinical time with staff to assess and teach critical thinking, priority setting, time management and "culture of patient safety" practices. Works in conjunction with other departments in the furtherment of outcome measures from cardiac registries, Joint Commission certification, cardiac specialty certification and the like to enhance the quality outcomes of the department and hospital. The ideal candidate should be passionate about clinical education, patient care focused, collaborative, and possess excellent communication skills. This position has responsibilities at all NAH cardiac locations. Responsibilities Staff/Department Development * Conducts needs assessment using a variety of strategic tools. * Assists learners in the assessment of needs and identification of outcomes. * Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs. * Coordinates orientation of new staff to the organization. * Develops and coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation * Develops and coordinates core education to address patient population specific nursing care. * Develops and coordinates core education for the development of imaging and diagnostic testing staff. * Plans, prepares and maintains materials for use in education programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience. Maintains computer-based tracking system and compiles required records and reports. * Keeps abreast of new procedures, equipment and technologies in the field of cardiovascular care in order to maintain professional expertise and to plan for necessary growth in the department. * Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats. * Develops evidenced-based educational materials and develops competencies related to findings. * Supports staff development with educational activities inclusive of remediation, certification, mentoring, life support, Joint Commission requirements, and product rollouts. Quality Improvement * Develops and demonstrates an advanced level of understanding of the organizational dynamics impacting the change process within the department and across the organization. * Engages staff in the creation of objectives, lesson plans, and evaluation strategies as appropriate. Presents and coordinates in-service and continuing education programs to meet departmental goals. * Serves as an educational advisor on task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development. * Identifies needs to promote quality patient care and safety. * Selectively participates in unit, department, and hospital-wide committees and task-forces to improve care processes for cardiovascular patients and their families. * Plans education in alignment with new and existing hospital-wide nursing and RT policies and procedures. Advocates standardization of performance and standards of practice across departments and facilities. Evaluates department-based procedures, policies, and standing orders to meet the goal of standardization as necessary and communicates changes effectively. * Assesses departmental needs for educational programs based upon patient outcomes and quality data, regulatory requirements, and new program or clinical offerings. Effective Communication * Assures that hospital, State, and Federal standards for patient confidentiality are met in relation to technology infrastructure design and implementation, staff performance of daily activities, and all other communications. * Consults with staff regarding individual learning needs and responds in a timely manner. * Provides information and communicates effectively with appropriate NAH departments to ensure accurate procedure care plans are communicated, and the overall timeliness and quality of services provided to customers. Compliance/Safety * Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility. * If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame. Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a health related field, such as Nursing, Biology or other Health Science, or in Health Services Management- Required. Must be enrolled into a BSN program within 1 year from date of acceptance and obtain within 2 years of employment. Experience Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab- Required Supervisory or Management experience- Preferred. Proven capabilities in time/project management, quality improvement, customer relations, radiation protection and safety, and infection control. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment. Knowledge and abilities required to oversee and perform quality assurance and quality improvement activities. Analytical decision making skills necessary to quickly assess and resolve complex logistical, technical, and patient care problems and issues. Strong interpersonal skills in relating to medical and hospital staff. Certification & Licensures Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Arizona- Required BLS (American Heart Assoc.)- Required ACLS (American Heart Assoc.)- Required
