Job Description Under direction, with broad latitude for independent or minimally reviewed action or decision, performs work of ordinary or highly professional difficulty and responsibility in the field of forensic psychology. Examples of Typical Tasks * Performs a variety of forensic-clinical evaluations, in compliance with program requirements and quality standards. Completes multiple clinical evaluations within the standard/acceptable caseload requirements and timeframes of FCMHS. * Through clinical interviewing, interactional observation, and/or through the selection, administration and interpretation of standard tests of personality, development, and intellectual capacity, evaluates individuals' emotional and intellectual functioning. * May also provide neuro-psychological and various other assessments as required. * Prepares formal written reports which will be included in Court records in compliance with program requirements and quality standards. Provides Court-ready reports one or more scheduled workdays in advance of due dates, except in emergency or expedited cases. * Testifies as an expert witness in compliance with program requirements and quality standards. * Participates in in-service educational and administrative activities, in compliance with program requirements and quality standards. * May give instruction or training in psycho diagnostic and/or therapeutic techniques. * May oversee the work of psychology interns, other students, and paraprofessional mental health workers. Minimum Qualifications A. A Doctoral Degree in clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology or Neuro-Psychology, awarded upon completion of a Doctoral Program in Psychology registered by the New York State Department of Education and designated as licensure qualifying; and B. One additional year of satisfactory full-time experience, either as a Psychologist for the City of New York, or in a supervisory capacity in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology or Neuro-Psychology in an approved agency or institution. Employees who complete their Doctoral Degree requirements on or after October 1, 1992 must have at least one year of qualifying experience gained after the completion of all Doctoral Degree requirements; and In the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation Only C. License Requirements for Assignment Level II 1. In the New York City Departments of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Alcoholism Services, Police and Fire, and those programs functionally transferred to the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation from the New York City Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Alcoholism Services, a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education. 2. In agencies not noted in C. (1.) above, a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education within one year of the date of assignment. At the discretion of the appointing agency, the period to obtain the license may be extended for up to six months for employees who fail to obtain the license within one year of their assignment. Once obtained, this license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
