    Security Officer Req #: 30111577 Category: Service and Maintenance Facility: Beaumont Hospital Taylor Department: Security Schedule: Part time Shift: Rotating Job Details: Position Title: Security Officer General Summary: Protection of patients, visitors and staff. Prevention and detection of theft of hospital property. Enforce hospital policies, city ordinances and state laws. Assist other departments upon request. Offer assistance and information to the public. Respond, investigate, handle and document all types of incidents on hospital owned property. Expectation to become involved in situations with potential for life threatening or personal injury. Essential Duties: · Patrol campus on foot and in vehicle (or on bike as assigned). Offers such assistance as unlocking doors inside or doing motor assists outside, is ever observant to suspicious activities and security violations. · Accepts and performs various duties at assigned post and provides assistance to patient, visitors and employees. Enforces rules, regulations and policies of the hospital as appropriate. · Works by assisting in the Security Operations Center monitoring phones, alarms, cameras and radio traffic. · Provides statistical safety and security reporting to internal customers and senior management regarding safety and security performance, improvement strategies/initiatives, and compliance issues as required. · Completes assigned or self-generated reports or logs daily on all activities, irregularities and investigations; logs all calls and accepts and logs all lost articles. Sends reports to managers and executives. · Investigates suspected crimes on the hospital grounds and off-site locations, prepares reports, and evaluates pertinent data and other necessary documentation. Co-operates with law enforcement on complaints. · Provides security escorts and other assistance to employees, visitors or patients as conditions warrant for safety or as assigned. · Responds to routine inquiries and directs visitors to appropriate areas, prevents unauthorized access to restricted areas. Standard Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent. · Requires a minimum of two years previous security experience in either industrial, retail, college/university, health care, law enforcement or military police setting. · Successful completion of 12-week in-house training program and required certifications. · American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification · Civil infraction certification, Taser certification required. · Valid Michigan Driver's license with acceptable record is required. · Current State of Michigan CPL license.
