    The ONSITE HEALTH COACH AND WELLNESS COORDINATOR acts as a partner and liaison between local Leadership, Human Resources and Communications departments and the Client Company's Corporate Benefits Team to execute workplace health and wellness programs. Delivering effective personal health coaching in a manner that promotes behavior change, this Onsite Health Coach and Wellness Coordinator will provide support to members at different levels of health, acting as an educator, resource, and advocate for employees and their families.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform strategic outreach to identified high risk members
    • Meet one-on-one to provide motivation, monitor progress, and assists employees in developing personal and measurable health goals and plans
    • Reduce gaps in member health service by providing referrals and leading care coordination meetings with other onsite healthcare vendors
    • Support the Client Company's Culture of Health workplace initiatives
    • Promote strategies for lifelong wellness in the healthy member population through education and accountability for prevention and lifestyle interventions focusing on nutrition, physical activity, weight management, stress management
    • Promote chronic care improvement in the stable but chronically ill member population using evidence-based steps for patient engagement, lifestyle management, treatment adherence, decision and self-care support
    • Steers complex chronically ill members to high quality providers
    • Administer basic non-invasive biometric measurements for members (weight, waist circumference, body fat); provide associated health education, referral, and counseling based on results
    • Appropriately adapts coaching and education methods (i.e. Motivational Interviewing) to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs of each employee served
    • Utilize data to determine effective methods of promoting improvement and improving engagement in the member population
    • Track employee data and interactions in an electronic database
    • Maintain and reports accurate, timely and appropriate aggregate outcomes data
    • Demonstrate established customer service behaviors and standards. Treat all clients with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
    • Plan, deliver or coordinate wellness events (e.g. biometric screenings, flu shots, health fairs, mammograms, etc.)
    • Monitor effectiveness of these programs as it relates to improving employee health and wellness
    • Learn from successes and failures building lessons learned into upcoming events
    • Implement health and wellness programs such as diabetes management, diabetes reversal, diabetes prevention, hypertension management, smoking cessation and weight loss
    • Facilitate group activities and competitions between plants and teams (8 weeks to fitness, walking groups, weight loss support groups, etc.
    • Participate in Safety and Wellness committees
    • Coordinate the delivery of health awareness seminars to employees from various vendors (e.g. American Diabetes Association, American Lung Association, etc.) including lunch and learns, and client company-wide campaigns
    • Provide content for the Client Company newsletter to increase employee awareness of healthy lifestyles
    • Work closely with the Client Company Benefits Department to develop and deliver health and wellness promotion campaigns and an annual calendar of Health and Wellness topics including heart health, nutrition, physical fitness, know your numbers, cancer prevention, tobacco awareness, benefits of immunization, etc.

    CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCATED IN THE MARION, OH AREA. THIS POSITION IS ONSITE WITH THE CLIENT, MAY REQUIRE TRAVEL LOCALLY TO MULTIPLE MANUFACTURING LOCATIONS, AND WILL INCLUDE LIMITED OVERNIGHT TRAVEL. THIS POSITION IS A 40 HOUR WORK WEEK MONDAY - FRIDAY; HOWEVER, SCHEDULE FLEXIBILITY IS REQUIRED (ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES).

  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in health education, health promotion, nutrition, exercise physiology or closely related field
    • Registered Health Coach and Chronic Care Professional Certification in a nationally recognized coaching program or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire
    • 2+ years of experience in required in direct education and/or coaching with individuals for disease prevention, health education, or behavior change
    • Experience working as a health coach in a manufacturing environment or similar setting
    • Experience in wellness program development, communications and execution
    • Experience with digital communication channels (Social Networks/Google Hangouts/WebEx)
    • Experience in PC-based word processing and database documentation (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Current knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention (cardiovascular and diabetes) and basic understanding of exercise principles, nutrition, and weight management

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree
    • Certified Health Education Specialist
    • Project and event management experience
    • Experience working with the needs of vulnerable populations who have chronic or complex health conditions

    • Energetic and compassionate personality willing to teach, learn and be open to new and innovative ways of delivering preventive and intervention services
    • Demonstrate insight into human behavior and have the ability to communicate and interact with individuals at varying education levels
    • Prioritizes and organizes own work to meet deadlines. History of success working in less structured, self-directed environments
