    JOB SUMMARY

    Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Business Unit Controller is responsible for high level management of all finance and accounting activities, including financial reporting, planning and analysis activities for their assigned business unit. The Business Unit Controller leads the day to day finance operations of the business unit by managing a staff of up to 3 employees.

     

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing financial policies and procedures.
    • Partners with the Corporate Finance team on reporting, projects, audits, integrations and initiatives.
    • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
    • Monitors and confirms financial condition by supporting financial audits; providing information to external auditors.
    • Partners with the Director of FP&A to prepares Business Unit annual budgets and monthly forecasts by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, and recommending plans.
    • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
    • Manages the assigned Business Unit month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
    • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
    • Manages a team of employees within the Business Unit finance department.
    • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
    • Partner with Business Unit sales and operations leads to provide financial insight and support needed to plan and deliver business results.
    • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
    • Assists with financial integration strategies related to acquisitions.
    • Excellent time and attendance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
    • At least 15 years of proven experience in an accounting or business unit finance leadership role
    • Previous experience with Financial Audits is preferred
    • Thorough knowledge of advanced accounting procedures
    • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • In-depth knowledge of financial accounting statements
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
    • Experience with financial planning and analysis, including forecasting and budgeting
    • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages; previous experience with NetSuite is preferred.
    • Advanced MS Excel skills, including V-lookups and pivot tables
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
    • CPA certification is not required, but preferred.
