    Title: Behavioral Health Consultant Company: Native American Rehabilitation Association Contact Name: Human Resources Address: PO Box 1569 Portland, OR 97205 Phone: 503-224-1044 Email: jobs@naranorthwest.org Description: The Behavioral Health Consultant serves as a member of the primary care team at NARAâ??s Wellness Center to provide consultation, assessment, brief intervention, and referral for clinic patients identified as at risk or in need of mental health or addiction services, or patients needing support in improved physical health. This position will help design protocols and pathways for integration of behavioral health in primary care to improve outcomes for clients. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: â?¢ Brief assessment and targeted intervention for behavioral health issues identified in the primary care setting. â?¢ Assist clients with mental health challenges in accessing and utilizing medical care to their best advantage. â?¢ Consultation to medical providers on behavioral health issues, including behavioral support for medical issues including diabetes care, smoking cessation, cardiac care, and obesity. â?¢ Provide clinical support to psychiatric LMPs at clinic. â?¢ Participate in multi-disciplinary staff meetings â?¢ Complete written diagnostic assessments and impressions, service plans, progress notes, discharge summaries and other documentation as required. â?¢ Knowledge of and referral to internal and external resources. â?¢ Designs and maintains referral pathways internally and externally. â?¢ Assist with the development of suicide prevention and follow up care management QUALIFICATIONS: â?¢ Masterâ??s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling plus two years paid experience as Mental Health Therapist or Behavioral Health Consultant â?¢ Dual Diagnosis ( mental illness and addiction diagnoses) experience preferred â?¢ Basic understanding of common medical conditions and terminology. â?¢ Experience working with diverse populations, intergenerational trauma, and familiarity with trauma informed care principles. â?¢ Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Psychologist preferred â?¢ High degree of cultural sensitivity and willingness to learn â?¢ Ability to engage and motivate clients. â?¢ Collaboration as a primary value and behavior. â?¢ Flexibility and creativity. â?¢ Demonstrated commitment and success in working as part of a multidisciplinary team. â?¢ Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage priorities. â?¢ Excellent written and oral communication skills. â?¢ Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members. â?¢ Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times. â?¢ Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
