General Summary
The Litigation Paralegal provides advanced, comprehensive paralegal support to attorneys within the Office of General Counsel (OGC), primarily supporting the Business Litigation & Operations and Labor & Employment practice groups. This position plays a key role in managing subpoenas, litigation, internal and government investigations, guardianship proceedings, as well as driving operational efficiency in a dynamic, fast-paced healthcare environment.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

- Litigation Support
* At the direction of OGC attorneys, draft, review, and manage litigation-related documents, such as legal holds, pleadings, discovery responses, affidavits, witness statements, and court filings.
* Coordinate and oversee data collection and document production in response to subpoenas and discovery requests, with a focus on industry-standard e-discovery processes and best practices.
* Assist with internal investigations, including organizing and tracking documents, identifying and scheduling witness interviews, and summarizing interview findings.
* Support OGC attorneys and engaged outside counsel in preparing for administrative and court proceedings, including evidence and exhibit preparation.
* Develop and maintain chronologies, matter trackers, and legal files; monitor litigation calendars and key deadlines.
* Conduct legal and factual research related to litigation and employment matters, analyzing statutes, regulations, and legal articles.
- Guardianship Matters
* Assist in the initiation, preparation, and management of guardianship filings and proceedings in coordination with hospital staff and outside counsel.
* Draft and review guardianship petitions, court filings, and supporting documents.
* Track court dates, filing deadlines, and compliance obligations associated with guardianship cases.
* Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations affecting guardianships within the healthcare setting.
- Operational & Practice Group Support
* Develop and improve internal workflows, processes, templates, and systems to increase practice group efficiency.
* Prepare internal reports, practice group budgets, and other materials as directed by attorneys or team leads.
* Assist in intake, triage, and management of legal matters from business units; liaise with clients to gather necessary information.
* Analyze and coordinate legal requests and escalate them appropriately within OGC.
- Subpoena & Regulatory Response Management
* Manage subpoena triage process, including intake, routing, tracking, and coordination with non-legal stakeholders in accordance with established protocols.
* Support attorney responses to licensing boards, regulatory agencies, and enforcement bodies.
- Communication & Administrative Support
* Compose and proofread professional correspondence, memoranda, and reports with a high degree of accuracy.
* Maintain organized, easily accessible paper and electronic legal files and reference materials for internal and outside counsel use.
* Ensure proper functioning of meeting technology; prepare and present materials in various formats (e.g., presentations, reports, exhibits).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Serve as a liaison between OGC and internal departments such as Finance, IT Security, Compliance, Risk Management, Human Resources, and Supply Chain.
* Support cross-functional projects, ensuring legal and regulatory requirements are met in collaboration with other departments.
* Prepare reports, surveys and summaries based on the needs of the Business Litigation & Operations and Labor & Employment practice groups.
