    Grooming Assistant – Part Time

Animal Medical Center is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and pet-loving Part-Time Grooming Assistant to join our grooming department! This position is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m., with the possibility of occasionally working a little later depending on the grooming schedule. Our grooming department works closely with our veterinary team, giving you the opportunity to be part of a professional environment where pet health, safety, low-stress handling, and excellent client service are priorities.

🐶 What Does a Grooming Assistant Do? As a Grooming Assistant, you will support our groomers and help provide a safe, clean, and positive experience for every pet. Your responsibilities will include:

    Performing brush-outs and baths

Assisting with bathing and drying pets using low-stress handling techniques

Walking grooming pets throughout the day so they have opportunities to relieve themselves

Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, tubs, floors, and the grooming area

Keeping the bathing room clean, organized, and stocked

Monitoring pets for changes or concerns and communicating observations to the appropriate team membe

Being an advocate for pet health by recognizing and reporting concerns such as ear infections, lumps, skin abnormalities, wounds, or other changes

Following all Animal Medical Center safety, sanitation, and patient-care protocols

Helping the grooming department stay organized and operating efficiently

⭐ Who Should Apply? This position may be a great fit for someone who:

Genuinely loves working with both pets and people

Is dependable, punctual, and takes pride in their work

Is willing to learn and grow within the grooming department

Understands that working with animals requires patience, teamwork, and attention to detail

Can follow directions and consistently follow established procedures

Has excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Provides outstanding customer service

Is comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary environment

Is willing to perform cleaning and other routine tasks—not just work directly with the pets

Is comfortable working around dogs and cats of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels

Can stand for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier pets when appropriate

🚫 Who Should NOT Apply? Please do not apply if you:

Are looking for a position where you will only bathe pets and not perform assistant or cleaning duties

Are uncomfortable bathing, drying, walking, cleaning up after, or safely handling animals

Do not enjoy working with people and providing client service

Have difficulty following established procedures or accepting direction

Are looking for a job where you can work independently without being part of a team

Are unable to reliably commit to the scheduled Monday–Friday hours

Are not comfortable working in a busy veterinary environment

This position is best suited for someone who understands that excellent grooming support means taking care of the entire pet experience—from a clean kennel and safe bath to recognizing a potential health concern and communicating it to the veterinary team.
