Fall 2018 Intern, Communications Tracking Code 729-858 Job Description The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a Fall Internship to a qualified candidate who will support the Communications team. This paid Internship is a part-time temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 hours per week for an undergraduate student attending school in the DC area. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US. Interested parties may for internships in multiple departments; please include a specific cover letter for each position. Pay Range and Employment Status: Interns shall be classified as temporary, part-time employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work less than PCORI's full-time schedule for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary, part-time workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits. Current master's level and above students will be paid $20.00 per hour. Current undergraduate level students will be paid $15.00 per hour. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the digital team on a project for the Public and Patient Engagement team to revamp the Ambassador section of the website and launch a matchmaking tool to ambassadors, This would include, but not be limited to the following: -Support the development of the match-making tool (including look and feel) on the website to make it interactive and informative, working closely with an external vendor -Support new data collection efforts to populate the tool-- -Collect headshots of Ambassadors at the Annual Meeting and resize and post to each Ambassadors profile page on the website -Copy edit new biographical information collected from Ambassadors -Research other match-making websites to help share best practices In addition to the project above, duties might include: -Assist with the web team's efforts to present and promote results from completed PCORI-funded projects on the website, including translated summaries, abstracts of results, peer-reviewed final reports, and related materials. - Assist social media team in tracking online conversations about PCORI-funded projects and help support online events, such as Facebook Live or Twitter Chats. - Attend annual meeting and provide support to the ambassadors and other activities as needed. - Other support tasks as needed by the digital media team and communications department. Required Skills Seeking a candidate currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Communications, Health Communications, Health Policy, Public Health, Digital Media Seeking candidates with: Academic concentration in communications, journalism, English, public health, web production, design or related. Interest/course work in health field, including public health or health policy. College junior or above Excellent writing and communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of or interest in CMS, PhotoShop a plus. Applicants who are chosen will be phone screened by a representative from PCORI Human Resources department and top candidates will move a final round interview phase.
