GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the PT Aquatic Supervisor, the Physical Therapy Pool Tech/Lifeguard will ensure the safety of the persons participating in the pool program and performs any other necessary duties to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Aquatic Therapy Program.  Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients served.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in lifesaving techniques required.

Monitors activity of all persons in pool; takes appropriate action as necessary to ensure their safety.  

Assists all discipline in patient care activities such as dressing/undressing, toileting and transfers to and from pool as well as in locker rooms.

Maintains the pool daily by monitoring the chemistry and temperature.  Maintains equipment in pool area, keeping it clean, organized and in good working condition.  Promptly notifies the Aquatic PT Supervisor of any defective or damaged equipment.
