Job Overview:
The Dietitian contributes to broadening the Dietary Department’s services to the patients. The Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy services to inpatients, outpatients and long term care residents in a timely fashion. The Dietitian works to support a high standard of food service delivery and is a nutrition resource to other PMC staff members. The position provides leadership for wellness programs as it relates to nutrition and collaborates with communities to develop health prevention programs using a patient centered approach to healthcare.
Responsibilities:
- The Dietitian is responsible for maintaining a high standard of hospital food service and an effective medical nutrition therapy program. This includes but is not limited to outpatient, acute care, post-acute care, long term care and primary care.
- Develops and provides dietary in-services at least once a quarter.
- Develops with the Dietary Director a series of regular cycle menu plans.
- Reviews physician ordered diet prescripions and recommends changes, as appropriate, in a professional manner.
- Standardizes recipes.
- Assists in maintaining sanitation standards.
- Analyzes workflow in the Dietary Department and makes feasible improvements.
- Promotes safety practices and accident prevention.
- Provides nutritional care through completing nutritional assessments, MDS’ and RAPS’ were appropriate and provides patient education as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education. The Dietitian must hold a BS Degree in Biology Foods and Nutrition.
Experience – 3-5 years preferred, working with chronic disease patients, diabetes prevention.
State of Alaska Licensed Dietitian; Certified Diabetes Educator or equivalent training, education or experience.
