    Job Summary: Our Home health Agency is rapidly expanding, and we are hiring a Home Health RN effective immediately. We work with patients 18 and older with varying backgrounds who require medical care in the home and meet eligibility requirements. Most of our patients are elderly and/or terminally ill, so we hire the most compassionate and thoughtful talent in the field. You will be responsible for managing a heavy case load, so time management skills are essential. We promote and preserve health and independence by evaluating, planning and treating eligible patients who wish to remain in their homes for medical care. Responsibilities Include:  Coordinates interdisciplinary care for all eligible patients  Provides palliative care to patients and comfort to their families.  Evaluates and updates patient’s plan of care with the patient from time of admission to discharge  Maintains complete legal medical record  Functions within the limits of the Alaska State Nurse Practice Act, mission statement of the Medical Center, and hospital and departmental policies. Follows the Professional Code of Ethics  Reports to the Home Health Agency Manager and the chief executive officer of Petersburg Medical Center  Becomes the interim manager of Home Health when the Manager is away  Maintains education level to reflect best practice within the field  Must be available to be on-call when necessary outside regular business hours Qualifications: Education: Registered nurse in the State of Alaska. Experience: Two years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one of those years in an acute care or skilled nursing facility. Preferably one year of experience in public health or home health. Licensing: Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska with experience with the elderly and work in geriatrics. Alaska state driver’s license and insured personal vehicle. Other: Excellent rapport with physicians, and Petersburg Medical Center staff. Must demonstrate organization and leadership. Previous experience with Oasis and Medicare regulations is beneficial but not required. Must show excellent critical thinking skills for autonomy, communication techniques and an exceptional demonstration of the nursing process. Autonomy/compassion/flexibility are hallmark features of Home Health nursing, so must possess ability to think independently within scope of practice. Computer competency is required.
